F-111 Switchblade - 1/48 Zhengdefu and putty :)
« on: April 18, 2016, 06:11:39 AM »
Let me borrow this fragment from F-111 thread in "Ideas & Inspiration" section.

<...> what if F-111 had a forward swept variable wings and canard like a Switchblade?

That sounded way too awesome to pass up, so I threw something together. Quickly. Which is why some things don't line up quite as they should and why the moving surfaces of the wings are still as per the original model. No clue whether it would actually work (probably not!). I've added some small (too small?) control surfaces next to the nozzles (S-37 Berkut-style)

I imagine the wings and canards are on the same level. If you moved the wings down while keeping the canards on the LEX, you could possibly have Viggen-style canards are even all-moving canards.

First of all , unlike on the profile It'll have verticals similar to F-18 but more canted.

What I've done...I'll show ASAP because I have some problems with uploading pics Sorry  :(

Will you attempt to reverse the wings so that the flaps are to the rear instead of as depicted in Moritz' drawing?

that's a really cool idea, something I've never even thought about.

I know everything is a back to front on the drawing but it's an awesome starting point.

I'd love to draw it up but my laptop I do that stuff on has died for good this time!!   :icon_crap: But have a new one on the way so may give it a go.

I'm dying to see where you have gotten to!!!

Looking good 8) Considering it's Zhengdefu, the only rightful use for one is to cut it apart and PSR it thoroughly. :P

So cool to see this being built.  8) It's one of those times when you realize that it's far easier to do in MS Paint than in actual plastic.

<...> unlike on the profile It'll have verticals similar to F-18 but more canted. <...>

Good idea!  :) That's going to make it look even better!

Guys, it wasn't really hard to make. I've made few mistakes but now I know more ☺ I can make step by step guide using second F-111 and I'm sure that you'll achieve better results 😊
