Fine looking plastic surgery.    Do like what you are doing.  Interested to see how build takes form.

This is very interesting. What kit are you starting with?

A couple of cheep-ish Italeri M110s.  Just easier to work with two kits rather than have to reproduce all the necessary extra bits and pieces - there’s going to be enough scratch building as it is!  ;)

Gads this is nice.
Been doing summer car & house stuff, not following BTS enough.  Appreciate picture history.
Building rack is its own neat project.

I managed to paint the stowage rack and a few loose parts after clearing a clogged drain in the basement. Sure being a homeowner is wonderful. So is being a plumber, electrician, carpenter and brick layer!
Hopefully I’ll get to the final color tomorrow. Too late anymore tonight.

There's so much putty & stuff on there it almost looks like it's been carved from a block of wood! ;D

I often think a lot of my own builds are more akin to sculpting than engineering. I think MAT is combining the best of both. Should be pretty neat.

I second that!

I found the tule fabric! I cut two strips and glued them to the inside of the rack. It was like applying decals that didn’t want to behave. It looks good but now I have to paint it again. No problem.

Blue Scarab / Firelight Update:

Things are progressing well - but then again, well is a very subjective term!  I've had a bit of a build, strip, rebuild issue with the construction of the new rear deck structure but think I am about there (detail not in the current WIP pic.)  And this is the easy bit!!  I'll post some pics of the rear deck soon but then things might slow down a tad as the scratch- building required is going to be a bit of a nightmare.

Hey ho, upwards and onwards...

I'm curious to see if any of the CL-215s find their way down under...perhaps in response to the 1967 Tasmanian/Black Tuesday fires

Six are already there, all of them in Western Australia. Four ine waterbomber configuration with the Western Australian government and two in air ambulance configuration on a trial period with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

I should be getting to them in the next post or two.

If you go scroll back up toward the top of this page, you'll find a post I made on July 18 or so that mentions the first six CAC built CL-215s.
