Here's the project I started quite some time ago. Its been sitting around the bench for a long time. Actually got some work done on it in the last couple weeks. I didn't know what to do with it so I added some fuel tank halves as fairings top and bottom and painted it testor's grey on top and camo grey underneath. I went with the Testors as it was gloss and would facilitate the decalling. This scheme mimics the USAF special ops scheme. The idea was a new JSTARS/C3 type with smaller more modern equipment inside. Decals are all picked out so I just need a couple hours to apply them.

I started out as a disaster relief transport with the wings mounted above the fuselage to get the engines off the ground when it has to land and take off in rough conditions. I may revisit the relief transport but I just wanted to move in a positive direction on this one. Its been sitting around far too long.

It reminds me a bit of the Embraer KC-390 from some angles

Very interesting, very smooth job :)

Maybe you should patent the idea as I recall reading one of the biggest obstacles to a major upgrade to the 737 is the lack of ground clearance prevents the fitment of lager diameter, hence more powerful and economic engines.

I sliced sections from a set of wings in the junk drawer. Two 1/48th bomb halves provided the rounded outer ends. Putty and sandpaper of course.

Now, there's absolutely no rule that says you have to put the engines UNDER the wings.....

I've considered the engines above the wing YC-14 style. That might happen on the next relief transport attempt

That's a cracking, incredibly clever concept kerick!

Love the look of that glossy gray scheme! Brought to mind the famous RN DSG over Sky of yore.

The only thing missing is an aft cargo ramp. Great idea you have come up with!

I considered the cargo ramp too. It was just more than I wanted to do at that time. I would have to rebuild most of the rear fuselage to do it right.

SWMBO is out of town this weekend so I was able to get some decals on today.
Turned out pretty nice if I say so myself!

The Testors grey was spray painted with a rattle can and everything else was hand painted. Decals are from the kit, an A-10 sheet, an F-16 sheet and a couple of strays from the bottom of the decal bag.

Lovely ... but why append a 'B' prefix to the aircraft?
Boeing doesn't use a B in it's model numbers, it's just 707, 727, 737 etc.

I looked up the CN-295 and I see what you mean. If I did a cargo ramp it would have to look a lot like that.

It never ceases to amaze me how decals just bring the whole model together.

This wonder sure finished up in fine form!

I bet you could fool a few into thinking this baby was real. Not that I'd ever do that...

One of the best in recent memory, especially in the airliner/mil-transport category!
