1/35 M26 cupola (M114/Lynx) or M13 Cupola (M59)

I'm after either the M26 cupola off the M114 or Lynx, this is the one with the M2HB on a carriage on the front of the cupola, or failing that an M13 cupola of the M59 APC which must be as rare as hen's teeth in 1/35.

Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

How much of a difference is there between the M13 cupola of the M59 APC and that of the commander's cupola from the M48 MBT?  I always thought of that cupola being the same for both vehicles.

Good question. The M48 had the M1 cupola after they ditched the Aircraft Armaments one. The M1 uses the M85 .50 HMG which I'm trying to avoid but since you posted your question I'm trying to find the difference and can't.

The M26 cupola used on the Lynx and the M114 was also used in modified form on the M981 FISTV, M901 ITV, and LAV-25 AT with that signature "Hammerhead" contraption that contained the fire control equipment and missile launchers for the M901 ITV/LAV-25 AT versions and again in modified form for the artillery forward observer equipment on the M981 FISTV.

To the best of my knowledge and casual research on the M1/M13 cupolas I have found nothing so far that indicates the use of the M85 .50" heavy machine gun in either turret.  While I would not exclude it from being considered I have yet to see anything that shows the weapon was tested in either cupola.  The weapon most often seen in the M1 and M13 cupola was M2 Browning .50" HBMG.  The M85 heavy machine gun did not get introduced until later with the M60 MBT (M19 cupola) and the LVTP-7 AAAV (no nomenclature on turret type).

I have an M1/M13 turret from one of the Trumpeter M48 kits that is of no use to me.  Perhaps it can take up residence in your stash if we can come to an "arrangement."

:sidles up:
"So, you . . ahh . . have you . . . "
"Yeah buddy, I know what you need."
:Tears in eyes:
"I only need the one cupola . . ."
"They all say that the first time"

Sure thing!
