Title: Booltonpol F.122B
Post by: Tophe on December 29, 2017, 10:08:53 PM
I have been interested by Unicraft twin-boom P.122 rocket fighter at http://www.unicraft.biz/on/bp122/bp122.htm (http://www.unicraft.biz/on/bp122/bp122.htm)
and I got it for Christmas:
(from my Mini-Miraj topic http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=7650.0 (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=7650.0) :)
- the Novo kit was sent by Unicraft kits in Ukraine, thanks (with a Boulton-Paul resin kit I will show later, and a MiG-3 vacform-like model).

My what-if project from it (even if the P.122 project is already a what-if-built-for-Real) is:
-   having the fins becoming tailplanes (horizontal, not vertical)
-   having the tailplane becoming foreplane (in a triplex-boom layout somehow)
-   adding fins from the Novo Mirage III tanks (vertical, not horizontal) at wingtips

Here is the project principle of mine (on a Lightning basis below):

Your boundless imagination has been working overtime recently, mon ami!

You certainly spotted the perfect kit to use as a base for this wonderful concept, Tophe!

There will be putty-sanding-repeat work...
(As I am almost unable to use the thermoformed canopy, I used an extra canopy from my injected P-51D kit)

That's a nice dose of PSR there, mon ami!

You're a very brave soul and I'm sure your past experience will help you prevail through all that sanding.

Watching with interest,

Thanks. Sanding is delayed because I have no more sand paper, and sunday shops are closed here.

I hesitate about the pod/fuselage position, it may be far rear without being ridiculous... (this will be decided soon)

Gluing is completed, and painting has started:

Interesting configuration.  Of course that kind of thing happens at BTS.  Keep going, keep posting !

Yet another delightful concept from the Tophe Whiff Factory!

Great stuff, mon ami! Love the creative configuration!

Will look forward to your next update.

Thanks! The side above is painted also (the canopy will be black, not clear):

Great stuff!

... the canopy will be black ...

Or, you could make it a high-speed Geo Mapping UAV ... the 'canopy' becomes a radome, the canards are now at the top of the fuselage  ;)

Thanks for this idea, but I think I will not follow it: I personally prefer my models to be birds with eyes/personality, they are not raw machines to kill or make money. I made an effort in drawings for the unmanned GB but I will not do that with long-to-build models, sorry. ??? ;)

And the same, from different angles (the 28th Unicraft model of mine):

stunning !

the 4 pictures go well together : they look like a star  ;)

and the fact that you make Unicraft models, which are really not easy, is exceptional !

Unusual (well this is BTS) but does work.  Glad to see you did build.
Can spark ideas for others to kit bash.

Wow what a delightful, wonderful and thought-provoking model, mon ami!

Looks perfect with that tinted canopy too. A lovely objet d'art!

Well done Tophe!
