Mars Lander - 1/144 3D printing
« on: July 24, 2019, 05:00:05 PM »
Hi guys

Here is another mini-project. Uncomplicated and fast, as I like!

While I don't advance to "The Space Conquest - Part 5" (I already have the idea, but haven't started putting the pieces together yet)
I will recycle a 3D resin printing test that a friend of mine kindly offered me.

Look at this beauty ...

It would be a crime not to use it!

So I decided to clean it up (which ruined a few details, but this is all my fault :)), add the missing pieces,
and turn it into a hypothetical vehicle to land on Mars (the moon is too popular nowadays :))

First the landing gear and the main descent engine ...

Then a few more pieces and a matching base ...

The usual picture with the usual coin to see how small the thing is...

And finally a comparative photo with the Airfix 1/72 Lunar Module I made a while ago,
which looks like a giant...

I already have a figure chosen to compose the scene, but I still have to adapt it for space.

Thanks for watching!

Looking forward to seeing more of this.  I agree, that shape was too good to waste.

Is it just me or does this look cool just as it is:

It surely was cool as it was, but no turning back at this stage ;)

I forgot to take pictures of the intermediate steps  :( , but I replaced the head of the figure with some sort of a space helmet,
gave everything a quick coat of painting followed by some oils, and that was it!

So, please find below the final photos.

2 more days and I will be on vacation! Yessssss!!!

Now you understand the hurry to finish this tiny little fellow... ;)
