Senji,s Profiles
« on: April 04, 2015, 12:23:47 PM »
Hello, I'm new here but i have been reading several posts here for quite a while, specially in the profile section, i then this account so that i can share some what-if,s i have done and will do in the future.

I will start with a Ki-61, my favorite fighter of all time and one i have researched quite a lot, i always wanted to see a ''upgraded'' model that looked very state of the art for back then, so i did this and i call it the Ki-61-III-Kai, it has new design features, 4x 20mm cannon, a new DB-605 based engine built by Kawasaki (without troublesome modifications this time) and a engine mounted 30mm cannon for getting bombers.

Hey Senji! Nice to see you over here after the invite a while ago from dA. You should repost some of your other designs over here for people that don't know you from dA. You've got some great "what if" stuff on there.

Cheers,

Logan

Thank you all, and Logan, im gonna add more soon including some F-14 profiles based on the schemes made by ValAstur and a Japanese ''Fw-190D-9'' wich is in fact a Ki-100 with a long nose.

As of now i will post this repaint of the Ki-61-III-Kai on different colours.

PS. is there anyway to post images without img command

Ki-61-III-Kai looks great! I prefer the green one.

Where are all the guns located? 4 x 20mm and a 30mm sounds like a bomber killer. It might make the fighter a little heavy for dogfighting?

Theres a engine mounted Ho-155 30mm cannon, 2 Ho-5 20mm cannons on the cowling and 2 more on the wings ( different from most allied fighters the wing cannons are hidden inside)

Yes that would make it a little heavy but this aircraft is considering the scenario of Japan in 1945 where aircraft were made heavier and faster as possible so they could destroy B-29,s , plus many times the B-29,s were unescorted..

My imagination started running in the direction of a couple of my favorite subjects...
Heinkel produced a variant of Ki-61-III-Kai, and a squadron or two were delivered to Finland. There, the wing guns were removed, as was done with the few Bf 109s that were delivered with wing guns. Finland didn't face any heavies - just overwhelming numbers of fighters and smaller bombers that could better be handled with a fast and agile fighter. Three guns would be "sufficient".

After the war, the Finnish ones might go to bare metal or silver finish. Which national insignia is used at that point depends on how the war ends.

Hm, these bare metal should be easy to make, i alredy made a german one and finnish too, im thinking on how im doing a italian one wich would be built by Piaggio..

And i could make a zwiling, but it wont be very different in this side profile, altho i can make it apparent by removing the cockpit on the other side, you would be able to see that thru the glass and realize theres ''2'' airframes, plus this sounds like a good desesperate bomber destroyer, remove the all 20mm guns and keep only these engine mounted 30mm,s then add in the center wing, 2 of these 40mm Ho-301 cannons the Ki-44,s were meant to use..

And is there a way i can post multiple images, add image only lets me add one
