ModelCollect 1/72 B-2A Stealth
« on: May 23, 2018, 05:08:16 PM »
Hi everyone

Another build fresh off the bench. Its the newish 1/72 Model Collect SB-2a Stealth. Until this release I'd never heard of this company but I had to buy this as I love the B-2. It's completely OOB with the exception of some wiring to the rear wheels.
This kit is infinitely better than the Testors kit but it's also rather lacking in detail in some areas which for a $200 kit is a bit poor.

It's come out quite nicely I think. It's hard to make grey not so boring but I managed to get some variation here and there

Now for the final pics

Well, that's it but thanks for looking in

Beautifully built model!!  I agree with the questionable accuracy of some aspects of the kit.  There are some very noticeable bits, that I am very familiar with, that are not depicted at all (really, neither the APU's nor the firewalls around them, nor the LO exhaust hatches for them are depicted at all - major missing bits since they are quite prominent in the forward inboard corner of each main gear well and above it).

Yeah - the parts count is pretty low given how expensive this kit is. Still, it's a great starting point for those who want to super detail it and there will be people out there who will no doubt create a resin upgrade set one day

I keep thinking of a KB-2A with the optional aux. fuel tank in the starboard "cargo bay" (that's what it says on the drawings of that area) and either a stealthy refueling drogue or a retractable boom in the port one.  It would be superb for refueling very secret aircraft.

I kept the Testors version with the aim of doing something WHIFFY with it. I was thinking of rearranging the wings so they were forward swept as oppose to the standard way of doing to. Maybe one day when I don't have other projects on the go I may do something with it

the variation in the paint adds a nice touch. well done, as an all over grey plane could easily look flat and dull. Something this plane does not!
