^ thought the same thing at first glance.  Nice work so far and certainly a lot of talent in getting the shapes you wanted from wood.  Hope we see the finished model soon.  :)

Cheers to all for stopping by for a gander and drop a note  ;).
A bit of continuation on the build so I hope everyone's sitting comfortably. Tyres and rims are flogged from 2 x 1/18th scale diecast motorcycles (just too lazy to make my own these days  :().
The other parts of the build are fairly self-explanatory so:

Sorry about the poor camera work. Not really sure why it is so wonky  :icon_crap:.

More to follow soon.........

What is the original art from?

The original renderings are by an artist by the name of Peter Pohle. He is also responsible for the "Santa's New Sleigh" renders.

Okay, running out of sequence here  :-[, time for some body building, I had originally planned on tinplate and brass body however the results didn't quite meet my expectations so time to head in another direction  ;) (that's what I'm enjoying so much with this style of modelling):

The basic master-pattern:

not sure why I cut a section out of the nose  ???, and prepping for vac-forming:

and something to start working with:

As lways, please point out any shoddy work or areas of concern/suggestions etc. etc. I'm always open to new ideas. Ta.

Yah, like that's ever likely to happen! ::)

Your skill-set for this is wa-ay beyond me, mate! :)

I'd love to see your tools that you use to carve the masters with.

Hope you haven't got visions of fantastic tools and workshop  :o, because I work with the basics, combi belt/disc sander, basic scroll saw, various files/rasps and sandpaper  :-[ about the only "modelling luxury tool" is the Proxxon Mini-drill oh and the little lathe  ;).
I'm a big believer in the K.I.S.S. principle and learn how to use the tools you have got properly (reading between the lines - I'm a scrooge  ;D).

Not much progress of late. Rebuilt the brake drums for the third time - 1st lot were too small, 2nd lot were too big so hopefully these are just right  :). Also remade the basic furnace after a slight mishap with the original  :icon_sueno:.

Might even splash some paint around soon, always makes it look like I'm making progress  :P

Thanks to all for the kind words.
Please don't be afraid to apply CC  or even C  ;). I'm a big boy now and can weather the storm  :icon_beer:.
Brian - I've been a bit lazy and haven't applied the Under Construction labels etc. of late  :icon_crap:, must do better.
Since I tend to model in ways that aren't quite the norm (old school) hopefully I can inspire others to have a crack even at basic scratch building  :icon_alabanza:.
