BSG Viper Mk7
« on: February 14, 2016, 02:36:53 PM »
I am in.
I have had this resin kit for yarons. It was issued long before the current Moebius kits.
Nice resin, sharp casting, not a lot parts. What is not to like

That's pretty cool Brian, who makes it?
I'm glad that your doing this because I was beginning to think I'd be the only one doing something mainstream  :)
How big is it? Being 1/72 I can't imagine it would be terribly large but big enough to detail  ;)

1) A model doesn't get jealous when you look at another model
2) A model doesn't yell at you for spending money on another model

"Human Fighter Mk. 7" -- gotta love the naming of these "unofficially semi-licensed" products :P

Interestingly enough, it does not seem to include canopy in the parts list, so are you planning to raid The Stash or do they sell aftermarket canopies for Vipers too?

Two nicely vacformed canopies also included in the kit, just forgot to put on the parts scatter.

MH, the kit is from Black Sun via Starshipmodeler (well actually picked up of the stack on the SM trader stand at Wonderfest >:D ) it is perhaps 9cm long.
I contemplated putting an LED or two in but fought the urge to actually get something finished quickly for once.
But from what I have seen the Moebius 1/72 offerings are just as good.
It was a thing of its time, when the GK'ers jumped on kits early to get them to the adoring masses.

Since in progress photos were a bit pointless given the kit is basically together we have progressed directly to finished

Went a bit of a "off canon" scheme though and picked the Battlestar Poseidon as the mother craft
maybe a bit of tarting up of the base to come, we will see how the mojo goes :)
Cheers

Cool looking Viper. Love the paint job!

As for the base/display, I like it so much I will probably steal the idea on a future project. :)
