Landing Craft Oiler --- LCO
Special build for transporting fuel to island outposts around the archipelago.
Model is Heller 1/72 LCVP which features a fixed ramp to glue in either up or down position.  Installed mini hinges so it moves.  Ramp is held up via magnets.
Fuel tanks are from Airfix 1/76 RAF refueling set.  Is the tank on smaller truck cut in half.  This way LCO can deliver two types of fuel.
Hose reels are 1/1 sewing bobbins mounted so they spin.  Note pumping controls inside aft end of tanks.  Hose is shoe lace.  Removed machine gun positions and cut out that space.

Love it!!!!!  IIRC the Brits had some landing craft for this purpose as well but they weren't based on LCVPs.  Very cool and very believable  :) 8)

Another case of saw the two kits about same time and subject clicked in my mind.
Not keen on truck units of refueling set.  Made use of one fuel tank, one to go.
Mini hinges are a "challenge" to glue on without also gluing pivot part in fixed position.
Think they are intended for stuff like doll house cabinet door hinges.  Use tiny brads pressed into wood, no glue.

For those of you who care to read these.
Wrote and attached briefing page for LCO.
Include one with each build.  Placed next to a model at shows, they add context.

unusual ... but nice :)

How about a Brit version but replace the fuel with water for supply to Tobruk ......

or make it a Conger Craft - shoot hoses up the beach & pump liquid-explosive into them to explode mines  ;)
or flamm-gel resupply-craft for Crocodiles attacking on Pacific Islands ?

Awesome idea !
would it be possible to see the actual door hinges in the building process ?
I used silver foil glued with super glue but this does not allow too many openings I would imagine

I really like the idea of the magnets for the door opening options

I am almost done with 6 X LCVP-1 1/72 Heller kits WHAT-IF conversions into ''Captured'' Japanese Navy units with each one carrying a different ''Load''
Also did each one in different Color schemes to make it more fun.

Hey - I like those two.  Have more attention to detail than LCO. 
Wood canopies are perfect. :)   Gotta build canopy on LCO.
Took no pictures of construction, so no hinge pics.
Are small buggers and a challenge to glue without gluing hinge pin to each half. 
Have two holes on each side for pressing mini-nails into soft wood.
Please post pics of all six LCVP builds.

Will do so at later stage - too many pics - it was a 6mnths project in total [with a few other builds along the way]

The record is 112 holes drilled into one of the LCVP's average approx 80 holes drilled per boat for all the changes

Actually sanded off most / ALL of the original mouldings and replaced with various ''RAILROAD'' photo-edge bits etc.

It might be more feasible to post albums of each boat onto my FB page instead and just a pic of each finished boat onto this Forum.
I will open a new post when I post it and let you know when that happens.
