Personally I am not too impressed with their efforts to date, you guys leave them for dead for realism and believability.

That's the price one has to pay now to achieve future self-sufficiency.  The entry-level now is a far cry from, say, back when the PRC got started.

Besides, that thing in its flyable form is probably just a tech demonstrator......

Seriously...... like all in a sudden we wouldn't be able to tell that this is an artist's impression......

Of course with Iran keeping hyping up their mock ups and all, people just might stop buying into the idea of Iranian ingenuity one of these days......

Nice artist's rendering of McDD's JSF entry.  They were dropped when their vstol version went from the air-driven lift fan to a separate lift engine, in violation of the rules of the competition.  A shame, really, since theirs was a better aerodynamic concept than Boeing's.

Turns out Boeing have been kicking around low-observable since the early 1960s.

Fascinating, that head-on shot reminds me very much of an inverted TSSAM.  From the lectures I've heard, I know that Northrop was working on LO concepts then, too, as troubles in tracking Snark test units in flight made them realize what could be accomplished.  Wonder what other tidbits are out there?

What I am surprised about when discussing LO is that how much is not known by the commentators, which was and is in the public domain.  English Electric/BAC was playing with LO in the 1960s, even to the point of painting a Canberra in LO paint and seeing what effect that had on radar returns.  The drone company Ryan was fielding drones which featured LO blankets attached to their airframes in the late 1960s (and flying them).  Both these items were detailed in the books on the topic (Putnam's "English Electric aircraft since XXXX" and "Lightning Bugs and other Reconnaissance Drones", both published in the 1980s).

Lockheed Martin unveils wing-body tanker concept for refuel stealth aircraft

Lockheed Martin has unveiled its concept of next-generation wing-body tanker aircraft for refuel fighters like the F-22 and F-35. That was reported by Graham Warwick.

The concept of new stealth tanker aircraft was displayed for the first time at AIAA SciTech Forum. Lockheed has already begun wind-tunnel testing on a four percent scale model of a new Hybrid Wing Body (HWB) airlifter designed for maximized aerodynamic efficiency. As Lockheed’s aerospace engineers conduct flight tests on the 45-pound HWB model, they could use the data not only to develop the HWB but also to jumpstart a tanker program with a similar blended wing-body design.

This is basically what was predicted back when Boeing was given the initial 767 tanker lease deal, i.e. that lockheeds Skunk Works was working on a stealthy tactical tanker that would not only supplement the strategic tanker force but would eventually become the platform of choice to replace the various airliner based ISR types.

The Department of the Air Force selected JetZero for the next phase of a blended wing body prototype aircraft project Aug. 16.

The effort aims to mature BWB technology and demonstrate its capabilities, giving the department and commercial industry more options for future air platforms.

....

The Air Force Operational Energy Office expects completion of initial flight testing as early as 2027.

Boeing has been pushing it for years.
Sometimes when something looks so different people won’t go for it even when it’s a better idea.
