OzMods latest releases are repackagings of the 1/48 and 1/144 Caribou, and correction nacelles for the Italeri 1/72 C-130J Herc. Two other releases - 1/144 C-2A Greyhound conversion and 1/48 Vultee Vengeance correction - are due for release by September. A new 120 mm ANZAC figure - sculpted by Phil Walden - will also be released in the same time scale.

The 1/48 Caribou (vacs, resin, metal, decals) has been revised with decals for all five of the RAAF's "45 years service"/Retirement schemes, as well as one each for the USAF and Air America. Most of the production run was presold, and at the time of writing only a dozen kits remain.

The 1/144 Caribou (resin with metal and optional vac canopy) now comes with new screen printed decals: Covering the five aircraft for the RAAF "45 years service"/retirement scheme, and one each for the USAF and the Spanish Air Force.

The 1/72 C-130J nacelle correction pack (resin) for the Italeri kit comprises four nacelles, four spinners and 24 blades, and four vent doors - the pack also includes detailed instructions on stretching the Italeri kit to the long fuselage -30 model.

For release by the end of June is a C-2A Greyhound conversion for the Revell 1/144 Hawkeye kit. This comprises are clear injected fuselage, injected tailplane and cargo doors, and resin detail cockpit and aerials. Also included in this pack are screen printed decals for the US Navy VRC-30 Det 5.

Also due for release by the Queensland Model Hobbies Expo in early September is a total correction set for the 1/48 Vultee Vengeance. This resin pack comprises a completely corrected/reshaped fuselage (with side wall detail), reshaped nacelle with engine and propeller, fully detailed cockpit (with pilot's seat, panel, controls, nav/gunner's detailed compartment), detailed bomb bay with doors and bomb (with choice of US or RAF fins), various bulkheads, flattened main wheels ... and a few other bits and pieces. The parts are already in production, and waiting for build photos and instructions to be organised.

Hi Cliffy:

Yes, it is out ... but haven't done much about promoting it because we are currently in Seattle (USA) on our way to US IPMS Nationals in Florida next week.  There is a bit about it on Kampfluggen144, and in our section of the 'Forum' on Aussie Modeller Internation web sites.  Sorry I can't give web addresses - travelling very light.  If you want one, please email ozmods@bigpond.net.au and we will get it to you in a couple of weeks (we're back in Australia about 15 August).  Greg A.

The new OzMods' web site went live today! The address is still the same - http://www.ozmods-kits.com - but the host server is new. The new site is a completely different format to before. In a nutshell, it's mostly photos and info of products. In fact, for the first time we have virtually all products with photos (except for some of the smaller 1/144 weapons). In particular, all the Scaledown items are now in photos. The home page will feature regular updates of new products, news of forthcoming items, etc. Please check it out, and bookmark it!

OzMods' latest 120 mm Military Figure has just been released. This resin kit is titled, "River Crossing", and depicts an Aussie Digger (with Owen Gun) crossing a river in New Guinea during WWII. It's yet another example of Phil Walden's remarkable talent, and presents a dramatic and emotional image. Kit is Aus$45 plus post. It's already up on our web site at http://www.ozmods-kits.com  Can be purchase with any credit card or PayPal to ozmods@bigpond.net.au

(Post and packing:  Within Australia Aus$9; to NZ Aus$12; to Pacific Rim Aus$15; to North America Aus$16; to Europe, UK and Rest of World Aus$18.)

OzMods has just released three sets of turbine exhaust pipes that will set your 1/72 C-130 a, E, H and J models apart from the rest! John Guyer, who did our brilliant nacelle corrections for the Italeri 1/72 C-130J kit, has done it again with these highly refined and detailed pipes. They are OZCONV7212 for the C-130J, and OZCONV7213 for the C-130E/H. Price is Aus$5.50 for a set of four. (The OzMods' C-130A conversion pack also has four exhaust pipes peculiar to this model.) Seems Greg has been lax in keeping us up-to-date:

Quote
At long last the correction and upgrade for the 1/48 Vengeance is ready! Production is underway, and we're just waiting for the vacform canopies to arrive from the UK before the kit will be released. Price is still Aus$66 plus post. (See photos below.)

The 1/144 F-111 full kit is still being worked on by Chris, but he has his final year of university that is taking priority at the moment (plus the fact that he ties the knot with Betina later this year). So will keep you all posted ... and, judging by the looks at the F-111 posting, this is an eagerly awaited kit.

And here's a sudden one from OzMods! A 1/32 Yokosuka Ohka II Piloted Flying Bomb full kit! Sorry there has been no prior warning about it ... but it has just happened out of the blue (so to speak). This is a complete resin kit (with decals and vac canopy) that OzMods is producing and marketing in association with Lock On Models. It is the old Lone Star Models kit (from the US) that has been cleaned up and with a few extra parts added. It is currently in production, just awaiting the vacform canopies to arrive. Price is Aus$55 plus post. (See photos below.)

Also due to be released shortly will be a correction/upgrade kit for 1/72 Fokker F-27 Friendships. This pack will include new main and nose legs and wheels, landing gear doors, tail plane and fin corrections. We will post photos of the parts shortly.

Any chance of getting a conversion for a RF-111 in 1/48 and 1/72 (at a minimum)?  I know the RAAF bought the capability but I don't know how much they used it.  Still, it would be a different option and could be applied to other aircraft (thinking of an Avro Arrow with a recce pod instead of a weapons bay pod).

Cool!  Having worked on the design of the original, I'm definitely interested.  If memory serves me correctly (and we're going back nearly two decades, here), the lines up to the firewall are the same while there are new lines from there forward and new exhausts.  Of course, you've also got the separate windscreen on the T-6 (part of complying with the bird-strike requirements Beech had to meet).

I received an email of the announcement yesterday but when I checked your website, the new models weren't available!  :o

OzMods has released a 1/144 Bristol Mk 31 Freighter.  This is a fully injected kit with clear injected, vacform (2 supplied) and decal canopy options.  It also has a detailed flight deck (wait ‘till you see the panel!).  Two boxings are in the initial release: OMKIT14418 with SAFE Air (New Zealand) and British United decals; and OMKIT14419 with RNZAF and RAF decals.

Would be nice to have the original "Roman Nose" as an optional part to build the very early production C-130A models.

OzMods has expanded its range of 1/144 injected kits of the Bristol Freighter with a new boxing of the Mk 21 version to accompany its Mk 31 models.

The new kit (OMKIT 14420) is the basic Mk 31 kit with resin parts to do the conversions.  For RAAF fans the decals include regos for not only all aircraft, but different schemes during their service lives. The decals also include one each for the RAF and Silver City Airways ... and another one that combines both of these!

See kit details on the web site at http://www.ozmods-kits.com

I had the privilege of seeing a copy of the Proof of Kill photo from the exercise, taken through Ovens' attack periscope (the image in the Navy News article is through their search periscope), she was even closer than that image & in a perfect firing slot.

Many years ago I worked with a guy who used to serve on the Oberons.  He told me an interesting story of a visit to Kiel, Germany just after collecting one of the subs.  Apparently, when they visited, a whole lot of ex- U-boat guys came down to have a look over the new subs and gave lots of interesting and sobering advice on how the subs would survive in combat (comments such as "...that feature there won't last under depth charging...").

Whilst a 1/350 version is nice, a 1/144 one would be nicer... ;)

For those who may want one Ozmods are re-releasing their 1/72 PC-9 kits -  OMKIT 7202 - featuring decals for the Royal Air Force and RAAF FAC aircraft.  And OMKIT 7207, featuring several markings for the RAAF Roulettes aerobatic display team.
From now on all OzMod's PC-9 kits will include (apart from resin cockpit, etc) extra detail resin parts (wheels, landing gear struts) and paint masks for the canopy.
