Converting an F-16C 1/48 to a QF-2200 Ghost ;)
« on: March 22, 2012, 08:16:07 AM »
Hey guys,

I have commenced a build to produce the QF-2200 from Macross Zero and it will be a detachable aircraft for the VF-0 Angel Configuration.
Pics could come up tonight but not guaranteed.
The wings were carefully removed on my Hasegawa F-16C and i've got all necessary pics for the Ghost. ;)

Thanks,
Michael

Sickening, weakening
Don't let another somber pariah consume your soul
You need strengthening, toughening
It takes a bit of dark to rekindle the fire burning in you

Just started cutting out some placard for the basic rough shape.
Flipping the plane upside down to show the intake just won't do because of the fact that the intake on the QF-2200 is much further back compared to the falcon.
So I will scratchbuild and maybe kitbash an intake and mount it on top of the fuselage.

AND SOME TEASERS ;)

First off don't worry about absence-- I have built things that go on and off for years!  :(  Compared to myself you build very quickly!secondly that is some top notch work. You made that fit between the fins perfect!  8)

I cut out canards and finally put on an intake as you can see.

Not a very accurate representation of the QF-2200 exhaust but I like it ;)

Thanks for looking!

That exhaust nozzle comes close to a LOAN (Low Observables Axisymmetric Nozzle) one as was tested on a F-16,  It wouldn't take much to combine it with an AVEN (Axisymmetric Vectoring Exhaust Nozzle) one as well.  Go to F-16.net and search for NF-16D and you'll find good references for both GE and P&W vectoring nozzles and the comparatively minor external appearance changes these caused.  'Twould be a nice touch to add that cpability here.
