Good evening guys,
It's been an eternity since I posted something. ScaleWorx Resin Models is testing new waters by trying a new what-if product for the first time ever, and has just prepared the masters for a resin conversion set to convert pretty much any F4U Corsair into a F4-F40 Freebooter, based on one of my old profiles. The exhaust stacks have been altered to Hawker Hurricane ones. Truth be told, one can actually fit the conversion onto almost any radial engined aircraft that has a cowl diameter of +- 19.5mm. The molds will be ready in the next day or two.
Those who are interested can order directly via email to scaleworx@yahoo.com

GTX, the Super Puma is being considered, and if so, it will only be some time next year ;)
Cheers

I can wait...

Would this be a good time to ask about a 1:72nd and 1:48th scale conversion for the B-17 to transform it in to the YB-38? :)

As well as similar conversions to turn a B-29 into a XB-39?
-
What engine is that? My gut tells me V1710, which doesn't seem enough! It looks wicked, though!
-
The YB-38 and XB-39 look cool, but I can't invest in a project if there isn't enough interest. The F-4U nose conversion I received quite a couple of requests for. It would look great on the B-17 and B-29
-
If the price was reasonable, i would buy at least two YB-38 conversion in 1:72 scale.
For what that's worth
-
I’ve often thought about a turbo Corsair conversion to bring it into the 60s and 70s as a COIN attack beast. This makes me think that this is what one might look like.

I agree it looks wicked. My guess would be a V1650 or a Griffon as the cowling has the room. Alternatively, it could be a post-war Allison as fitting to F-82s.

I agree, that nose would look good on a B-17; not sure it would have the power for a B-29. Fun alternate would be to add one more exhaust stack on each side and make it a V2220, an inverted version of Chrysler's IV2220. I could see buying four of these, plus and extra few sets of exhaust stacks, and using the blades from Skyraider or B-29 propellers, to do a differently-powered XB-39B with V2220s.
-
The nose profile is based on the P-40B side profile. Obviously the cross section of the Corsair is circular and won't match up with that of the Tomahawk. So I shaped the nose from a block of resin from scratch. The Tomahawk exhaust stacks looked silly, so I tried 2nd stage Merlin exhausts, which looked okay. The Hurricane exhausts looks the best. I'm almost sure I've drawn a profile of a turboprop one? If I find it, I'll post it some time.
-
What scale is the F-4 nose in, please?

Rickshaw, it's 1/72 scale.
-
Oh, before I forget, the big question?
The resin conversion set would cost 8 USD and international shipping via registered airmail (with a tracking number) costs 7 USD from South Africa.
-
First resin casting, success!

That's very good
But a question, as the rear end of the cowling is much wider than a P-40's cowling, wouldn't the groove for the exhaust be deeper at the rear end of it. Like how you see on the MB5
-
Thanks Kitnut.
I'm using exhaust stacks from a Matchbox Hawker Hurricane. Looks and works the best. Modelers can easily trim the sprue side of the stacks if they want to adjust the angle they sit.
-
So what would an extra set of exhausts run me if I wanted the parts to make a further whif?

To add an extra set of exhaust stacks to the set would be an additional 2 USD.

Hi guys,
New project for early next year, a 1/72 scale resin kit of the ATLAS Aircraft Corporation's indigenous fighter aircraft, "Project Carver" for the South African Air Force. This will be the original single engine design.
