AGV Club kit, rearmed with a short 90mm that the V150 series used. The hedge row on the front is from Tank Workshop. Tamiya field blue is the color.

I thought about using panzer gray as a camo, but it resembles the field blue too much.
I use an old Tamiya M3 Lee for testing.
This side is Tamiya Black green camo.

This side is Tamiya NATO black. Both test patterns are brushed on.

I've always been a fan of the M41 so it'll be interesting to watch this project progress.

Yes,,, M-41 is in my top strata of favorite tanks.
and Yes for,,, it'll be interesting to watch this project progress.

The shorter barrel looks good - almost like a 50's M60. The AFV club kit looks great - I was going to start mine, but I want to build it up properly. Is the mantlet an aftermarket part or did you make it?
I remember watching my dad build the Renwall M41 as a kid. I think that's when I fell in love with the tank.
-
You're off to a fantastic start, Zod! As for the camo, how about using both the black-green and the NATO black together? It sure would look intimidating!

Might need the addition of some barbed wire to help slow down those zombies...

How about adding the wire to one of those bar armor kits that keep out RPGs? Would certainly keep them at arms length long enough to mow 'em down with an HMG :icon_twisted:

Thanks Frank. The mantlet cover is an after market/seperate accesory from AFV Club.

Like the slat armor on the Stryker series?
-
We did an "End of Days" Campaign over on armorama and I did a zombie safari rig.
It started as an M60a2 kit and I removed the turret and just installed a deck for the hunters to move about on. :)
I figured my folks would use some chain link fencing to hold any zombies away from the deck of the tank. Fence came from hobby lobby, just a wire mesh.

Yes sir! Just weave the barbed wire through it. Not sure if that's available as I don't build armor but I'd think some thin floral wire would work.

That zombie looking vehicle looks great. ;)
I am not sure if I will add on any stand off wire mesh. I am kind of pressed for time with this build,as I am doing it for the IPMS show in August.
I can't even airbrush any camo on it as it is too hot and humid.
-
Love the zombie safari rig.
-
I want to thank everyone for the ideas on this build with the razor wire,or standoff slat armor. I will be building some more zombie hunting vehicles in the future. I will implement those ideas then.
The only weak spot on the AFV Club M41 is the sprocket attachment point.I drilled a bit into the backside of the sprockets, and used a 1/16 inch metal rod to hold it in place better.
Tracks are on. I used the indy links from AFV Club.
I am going to try and airbrush the camo on tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can beat the heat and humidity.

I'm wondering about the gun --- what is most effective against zombies ? -- flame-thrower ??
Certainly, if they're led by Dracula, you'd need the special sanctified wood ammo with cross engraving.

This 90mm shoots a special blend type of ammo. A mix of cannister and white phosphorous. ;) The zombies this tank fights are the Resident Evil type. I will be adding Jill,Alice,Claire, and Rebbeca onto the tank.

Don't head shots work best?

Don't head shots work best?
Anything upwards of 20mm doesn't need targeting that proper.
As the fine people at cracked.com found out (LINK (http://www.cracked.com/blog/7-famous-zombie-movie-weapons-that-would-get-you-killed/)),...

However, since you're in a tank I suppose encountering burning zombies is not too much of a problem.
I'd also vote for canister. :)
Or, if you're crazy enough and the zombie crowd is big enough, how about ye olde chain-shot?
What was good against pirates can't be bad against zombies! ;)
Hmmmm, silver canister against werewolves?
-
Sharpen the chain shot for added slicing power! Should be good for upwards of 75 decapatations per shot, at least >:(
-
This is awesome ! And the idea of "Zombie hunting vehicles"... Thats awesome too !!

I love the chain shot ideas. ;D I will have celery juice added to the chain shot. That stuff will destroy anything. >:D
I airbrushed on some NATO black today. Nit reall happy with the results. I think I will go over the black spots with black green. I am not going to try any fancy patterns. I still need more airbrush practice.

For the rubber portions on the road wheels,I used Life Colors vulcanized black. I am going to go over them with some darker black.

Hmmm, do I smell a zombie slayer group build? :P

Silver plated cannester load? :o

Could easily fit into the upcoming "It's the end of the world as we know it" (also including WW3 and Post Apocalyptic builds) GC from 1 Sep - 28 Oct.

I am bringing this back from the dead. Some bad things happened to the original one,so I started a new one. I used the AFV Club M41G.
Sorry for the bad pix. I am trying to get used to a new camera, and the only photo editing I have on my new laptop is MS Paint. I can't remember the name of the photo editor I used on my other laptop. When I get home,I will look it up,then download it onto this one.

Very nice build there Zod, I will have to look out for a M41 in 1/72nd scale as they are worth upgrading for sure.
Chris.
-
Very nice work there! For future vehicles, why not take inspiration from the Bolo series - fit Claymore mines along the track guards!

Thanks Chris. Offhand,I do not know of any plastic M41's in 1/72.

Thanks Deathjester. That is one thing I did not think of on this build. But thanks for the idea on a future build. :)

This thing is all kinds of cool man, bravo!!! 8) Will we see anymore zombie vehicles from you? Please say yes!
"Sir, we're out of ammo!"
"Oh crap...hey wait a minute! We're in a tank, run 'em over!!!!"
*splat, splat, squish*
;D
That gives me an idea for a mod you could do though providing your zombies would act this way. After running over a whole mess of them the time would come to egress the tank at which time any zombies or pieces there of still attached/stuck in various locations might pose a very real threat to the crew. You wouldn't want to mow down a hole horde only to get bitten on the arm as you pop the hatch because half of one is stuck on the turret. How about some sort of remote cameras or periscopes with wide angle lenses to allow for a visual inspection of the exterior?
Just had another idea, a zombie cleaning depot adapted from a self service car wash! Drive the tank into the stall and a squad "cleans" the exterior of the undead with weapons of their choice and then hoses off the pieces that in turn get pushed into pits for later burning.
I might be over-thinking all of this ;D
-
Well, that would give new meaning to servicing the vehicle. I can see something like an automated car wash but spraying flame instead of soap, wax, etc. as it travels the length of the vehicle.
-

Can't hurt! :) Come the Zombie Apocalypse, you're gonna make millions! >:D I'd like some royalties, though, if you name your business "GoreWash".

Thanks Cliffy. I won't be making anymore mods to this one. The zombies in my world are like the ones in the Resident Evil movies. Easy to take down, and they don't get back up again. I will be making more zombie fighters. Not real soon though.

The green is zombie green from MIG Pigments. I tried to flick it on,but no luck. I will scrub some off.
