Title: Photo Op - 1/72 diorama
Post by: ed s on May 22, 2012, 05:09:13 AM
Here is my latest completion. A 1/72 diorama showing some GI's who have come upon a "Karl" Morser heavy mortar and are recording the event for posterity.  No exactly a What If, more of a "Maybe it happened".  The Morser and it's ammo carrier are Hasegawa. The Deuce & a Half and the 20mm AA Halftrack are also Hasegawa. The 2 M3 halftracks are Italeri. The Jeep and Kubelwagen are Academy. The figures are from a variety of sources and many have been modified to more appropriate poses. The Kubelwagen and Halftrack have been shot and the Kublewagen crashed into a tree. The Halftrack ended up in the ditch.

Some more shots.

The cameraman. The camera and tripod are scratchbuilt from styrene strip and sheet.

Another shot of the cameraman with a US penny for scale:

Nicely done, Ed! It's great to see you posting again!

If you used a nickel instead of a penny, would that mean the cameraman was making film for a nickelodeon?

I'll get me coat...

Awesome idea ! You just need a photoshopped b&w pic taken from the "camera" lol

The GI standing on the Thor, just below and left of the Thor stencil, in Hamlet pose (sans skull)? Caption: "Thor be, or not Thor be, that is the question." (http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m309/ChernayaAkula/Emoticons/rofl.gif)

Yeah! That'd be cool!  :)

Ed,
At first I thought the rocky wall and the small plants in the background were part of the diorama. Did you paint the figures as well? Their proportions are a little off but the painting is excellent.

Cool models and diorama  8)  Fine work  :)
Yes - B&W picture from camera man and B&W of ones shown likely add to WW2 flavor.
