Title: Thales Australia Bushmaster
Post by: GTX_Admin on July 15, 2012, 04:54:25 AM
Hi folks,

With a kit in 1/35 of the Bushmaster now being available (see below), what about some modelling ideas:

To start with, one could model the Thales Copperhead derived version:

One could also do a US Armed Forces version since the Bushmaster was originally considered for the MRAP Program.

Or what about some armed versions:

Bushmater derived SPH?
Bushmaster derived SPAAG?

Interesting but obviously either its only for small fires or the rest of the crew travel in a separate vehicle.   Don't see a remote weapons station on their either...   ;)

I wonder if it's better than its predecessor? ;)

I think that's a still from here: http://www.abc.net.au/local/videos/2008/10/27/2402186.htm (http://www.abc.net.au/local/videos/2008/10/27/2402186.htm)

Reckon I know which one of the latter and former that will clock up the most hours as a useful working vehicle ;)

Would ;ove to do a version with weapon on back but based upon these:

A ute. Because.... of course.

Some more photos of the "CopperHead":

Something like this with either a HIMARS MLRS Pod or perhaps a M777 howitzer or even just a SAM system on the back would look cool.

Australia to send Bushmasters to Ukraine (https://www.news.com.au/technology/innovation/military/australia-responds-to-ukraine-request/news-story/4ffb601ba5ea69fd9a8ddd054ef7e477)

Latest variant:

The "Strikemaster" which is marriage of the Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Naval Strike Missile and the Thales Bushmaster flat-bed ute.

You could do something similar for medium-range SAM's, too.

This article (https://www.raytheon.com/sites/default/files/2019-04/ADBR_World%20Leader%21%20Supplement.pdf) actually addresses that briefly

Ah, so they consider the Bushmaster for LAND 19 Phase 7 but Raytheon and Kongsberg were able to  integrate Enhanced NASAMS onto the lighter Hawkei instead. Meanwhile, Kongsberg and Thales are aiming this StrikeMaster - Block 1A NSM on Bushmaster ute - for Land 4100 Phase 2 with the connection between the two being the FDC.

Presumably, the NSM launch canisters were simply too big/heavy for the Hawkei?

A useful proposal.
Of course once the ADF Procurement mob gets involved, putting on "Modifications for local conditions", the missile load will be reduced to one container.

Less likely given it is already developed in Australia

To be exact, the first 3 of 20.  18 are normal combat PMVs and 2 are ambulance versions:
