Dropship
« on: September 11, 2016, 12:20:50 AM »
Wanted to enter for a while, but I wanted to finish other projects, and with less than 3 weeks remaining I better get cracking.
I'll be using these kits to create a vtol atmospheric/space dropship/gunship:

Stay tuned for more

Keep the paint job simple to help others the time crunch. This is awesome enough as it is!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt:

Test fiting:

As for paint I'm thinking standard two tone hind camo or plain olive drab.

I hope that's an energy weapon that doesn't require ammunition, otherwise there goes your cargo carrying capability! :-\

Sci-fi weapons carry their ammunition in hammerspace anyway, so no worries about losing cargo space :P

There's not that much cargo space anyway (about 8 troops near the ramp) due to the internal layout. I'll probably do a paint diagram of the insides later.

There is some space inside for ammo, fuel on the other hand...

Finished:

Two things on the back are the orbital engines. Dual mode - air breathing jet for high speed high altitude flight which then switches to rocket mode to blast into orbit.

VTOL and LZ approach engines - single engine split into two to create space in between.
Fixed weapons:
1x Massive gatling gun
2x ECM/EW pods (original Harrier gun pods)
Retractable weapons:
8x Heavy anti-tank missiles
4x Rocket pods
8x Light anti-vehicle missiles (folds into wingtips)
2x Anti-air missiles (not modeled - extends out of outrigger landing gear bay)

Borked the decal because it was old and started disintegrating while I was applying it.

Side view:

Little man for scale.

Finally able to use the muzzle flash effect parts!

Bill of Materials:
Cockpit - 1/144 Hind
Body - 1/72 Harrier
Rear body - 1/220 Transall
Rear wings - 1/144 su-34
Top engines - 1/72 vf-25 + 1/144 Blast impulse gundam
Giant hellfires - 1/100? off of diecast Apache
Wingtip missile pod - 1/144 F-toys Apache

Thanks for the encouragement and for looking :)
