DA RULZ :)
« on: July 28, 2016, 04:39:30 AM »
1. The 2016 "Scaleorama GB" runs from August first through September 30th, 2016. An extension of up to two weeks may be granted if moderator allows it :)

2. Any subject is acceptable , as long as you build it in different scale than it should be/is on the box. F.ex. 1/48 F-19 stealth fighter as 1/72 or even 1/144 stealth bomber.

3. Any medium - so physical models, pixels/profiles and stories are all welcome. Winners will be chosen by vote of the forum members. Entries must be posted to the Completed Entries thread by the deadline to be included in the voting.

4. Please, place your finished entry in the proper "Completed entries" section.

5. If you're not sure your entry is eligible, please ask before posting it. Especially if your model is partially build or it's a rebuild/refurbishment

6. Have fun!

7. Still here? What are you waitin' for?! Enlist yourseft into GB :)

What if only some parts of the model are scaleoramed?
For instance: in this model, engines are made of full scaleoramed planes http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=3785.0

Well , in this case you'd used all models in 1/144 :)

Hey Artoor, I had a quick question since I am mulling some things around in my head if I actually manage to finish my first entry. On rule 2 it says:

Quote
2. Any subject is acceptable , as long as you build it in different scale than it should be/is on the box. F.ex. 1/48 F-19 stealth fighter as 1/72 or even 1/144 stealth bomber.

Would it be acceptable still if the scale stays the same but other parts from different scales are used? For example, I have been wanting to put 1/48 Me-262 wings onto a 1/72 FW 200 Condor forever, but the scale would still be the same, 1/72.

I know its kind of an odd question and I don't know where we would draw the line... its using different scales but is it still scale-o-rama?  ???

Well, since Tophe plays with scales as he decides then go on :) I'd like to see what you're planning :)

I do not want to steal your idea. This is just a test to show you. But in this case Me-262 is in 1/32, in 1/48 it would be too small IMO.

Excellent depiction.  And I am of same opinion.
1/48 262 wing might be size for 1/72 He111 or He219 or....... have to check.

Sweeet!!

so first off. Right click, save on those profiles YSI!! Second I have a bit of an Ace up on my sleeve... I'm going to chop the FW200 Fuselage down. I'm going to try and keep the same proportion as a Boeing 737, and I'm going to add winglets to add to the look of a longer wing span.

1/32 probably would look better, but I am short of of 1/32 262 at the moment.  :(

My original idea was that I would do a really snazzy looking post WWII Germania airlines (or whatever civilian variant) with an eye catching silver red and black scheme. I can do this model 1/72:1/48 as a proof of concept, It will be military with camo to hide the flaws, and if it looks good, great. If not back to the drawing board. I can also add the FW-200 Cowlings to the front to add some size to the engine pods.

Hell I guess I have no choice but to proceed now  :) ;)

On second thought you guys are right:

That wing is just far too small. I would have to removed over 10CM of length to keep it proportional:

Can you extend the wing (inboard) using some plastic card?  Alternatively, maybe mount the engines somewhat similar to the Tu-16 and thus use the engines as a way to gain some wingspan extension.

737-900 has same wingspan as its shorter brethren. Ditto the super-stretched DC-8 Series 61, 440 inches
longer than the original, span unchanged.

With this one you could possibly claim the engines were DB109-016 engines - the same type supposedly planned for the Daimler Benz Project "B":

Thanks for doing the dry fit.  I was looking at online pics of the 1/48 Ar 234 wings and as you noted, they are a nice shape but too short. I would have consider butting two together but the wing does not have a constant chord.

What about 1/32 Me 262 wings?

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Since I have no shame, I'll be the first to ask, any chance of an extension?

Looks like both myself & Mr Tomcat have projects we could use some extra time for.
