Novo/Frog 1/500 HMS Undine (F126) saved by Whiffing!
« on: August 09, 2013, 12:34:10 PM »
Not exactly the Undine as per the kit, mine has been WHIFF'd to save it, but still has some of the original ID points   ;) ;)

HMS Undine F141, 1/500scale Novo_Frog kit F126. A "War Emergency" programme destroyer converted to an ASW Frigate. Built initially in 1978 and then very badly damaged along with the other Novo/Frog frigate "Torquay" so I combined the best bits that were left to produce a WHIFF during most of 1986, came out ok.   8) 8)

I 'spose it represents a ship that has seen some use as a bit of an operational trials vessel, sounds good anyway.  :D

I knew you had some serious modeling chops from those cool aircraft you've been posting, but now ships too?

Is there anything FAAMAN can't do?

Love your details such as the rust under the portholes.

Top work.  Reminds me I have a 1/500 Frog Tiger in a bag somewhere.

Well done - looks good and credible!  :)

I'm glad you resisted the temptation to put a weapon on the foredeck: I've always liked the ruthlessly-driven-by-experience vibe of the Type-15s...

I'd agree, she looks the part of trials ships just fine!  Nice salvage job, very well executed sir  8)

Thanks guys for the great comments. :D

Hey Volkodav, you mean a 1/415 scale Frog/Novo Tiger don't you?

I've the same kit I started a millennia ago, but miss alignment of the molds and heavy flash for things like the turrets and details beat my skill set at the time, I'll have to revisit it again maybe next year. :D

Not sure to be honest.  I picked it up from an old back street model shop years ago.  It is in a plastic bag not a box with yellowed instructions, I have found it in a box with some other old kits but haven't looked closely yet.  Love the look of the Tigers and am looking forward to getting my hands on some of Revells reissued Matchbox kits.
