Title: Big Plane Kits.
Post by: Diavel on January 04, 2013, 02:29:14 AM
Just seen this and another aircraft they do on modelsua.com, quite unusual looking aircraft especially in 1/72nd scale.

Damn !!!!!!! I've got not one, but two Execuform kits in the stash --- and I have the decals to do the CAF ones (JBot again) and I got the white metal detail sets from a CRJ-200 for the u/c from Welsh Models (I know they are not the same but they are close enough)

I have good news and bad news Graeme.

Good: The kits can be purchased today.

Bad news: They are Frikken' expensive. Two Ebay Eastern European sellers have them at $100 and $120 CDN all in. Ouch!!!

But Ivan @  Modelsua has it for $71 CDN plus shipping. If you are interested Graeme, we can consolidate on an order and save a few shekels on the shipping cost.

Or we can buy a gross and sell the extra kits to Bill Chappell at profit.  >:D

I've bought one of BPK's Boeing 737-200 in Canadian North scheme. It comes with the 'gravel kit' that is usually installed on 737s operating in the far north. Also the decals have markings for the freight door (like on the C-135).

Here is a quick review of what is in the box.

The box itself is a very sturdy box, and once I got the shrink-wrap off it and then opened it, found it was pretty well packed with bits and lots of bubble wrap.
Under the top layer of bubble wrap was a binder sleeve with the instruction & colour sheet inserted in it.

Along with the instruction sheet and decals was a paint mask (windows and a wavy shape for the dark cheat line), and two clear parts which are all the windows. There are two wavy cheat lines to use, which are slightly different in wave and the two doors are bigger on the separate sheet.

In the next sheet of bubble wrap was a couple of packets of photo etch, a packet of resin parts and a packet of wheel hubs, separate brake calipers, and rubber tires. These wheels and tires look like they could have been produce by Avia Equipage Auto, the style looks similar. They are quite good with no flash (also reminds me of the Fujimi F-14 kit which has rubber tires)

A bubble wrap layer down we get to the injection parts, all in separate zip-lock bags. Detail parts mostly but one bag has the tail plane and fin in it.

Another layer down has the wings in one zip-lock (and have been removed from their sprues already and in two halves for each side), and then the wing box lower half and engine nacelles in another zip-lock

Finally at the bottom were the two fuselage halves.

All the sprues have quite small sprue gates and there's no flash on any of the parts that I can see without getting everything out of their bags. The decal sheet is very crisp, all in register and each decal is separate on the sheet. Instruction sheet is very clear on how it showing the assembly (sorry, the photos here turned out a bit blurry)

I forgot one bit, the section of fuselage around the cockpit area. It's moulded in clear styrene and in one piece, it will have a bulkhead at each end with the cockpit built up in between them. It came in it's own bag.

There's two nose cones, one in styrene and the other in resin. I haven't looked at them closely to determine if there's any differences though.

Once I've got my Airbus A410TP done (yes it's got a designation now  ;D ), this kit will jump to the front of the list as my next build.

The sprue shots look good - they remind me of the old Huma low pressure kits.

Big Planes Kits Facebook post.

The Ukrainian company Big Planes Kits and the Turkish private company Baykar Makina have become friends. Big Planes Kits has received permission from Baykar Makina to manufacture the scale model kits Bayraktar TB2 on several scales.

Yesterday I found out that our colleagues from ClearProp are planning to make Bayraktar TB2 in 1/48. We will not intersect at 1/48. First of all, we will make Bayraktar TB2 1/72 and then we will work on other scales. The scale of 1/32 and 1/35 is also interesting for us, but we will talk about this later.

Generating revenue for the Ukrainian Defence!

Even if it's in Satan's Scale (1/72) I'll probably buy a kit; if it comes out in God's True Aircraft Scale (1/48) or God's True Armour Scale (1/35) I'll probably buy two! ;)
