Delivered today from SprueBrothers.  Six sets, each set containing four parts runners each runner has four half-length sections and eight full-length sections of airfield planking.  Nice details, just wish there were more included in each box, hence the reason for ordering six boxes.

Kit instructions state: 210mm X 336mm which gives you enough available space for the CH-54 Tarhe helicopter in 1/35th scale.

Kit instructions can be viewed or downloaded from ICM at this link------> ICM 53200, 35th scale - M8A1 Landing Mat

Brandon Lowe had an interesting interview of with Valeria, the daughter and one of the owners of ICM and a major part of the company. Long interview, but pretty good:

That "one small step" will see you looking for a larger residence to display the thing plus the other three you will keep in your stash.  Not to mention the disharmony that will be created when you bring all of the kits home.

What RAAF plane would carry these in the 1950s/60s/70s ? ;)

For the KDA-1/Q-2A, a GAF Lincoln 30 (Paragon conversion set for the Tamiya Lancaster kit)?

For the ICM BQM-34A/Q-2C, a GAF Canberra 20 (Airfix kit in Vietnam-era camouflage, perhaps)?

I like those ideas but I suspect the most realistic would be the C-130:  RAAF acquired their first in 1958 and have operated one form or another continuously since...without incident!

You're right. The Hercules would be the most plausible ... and, technically, fits within raafif's "1950s/60s/70s" query.

I based my Lincoln suggestion on the RCAF's pair of Lancaster 10DC launch aircraft. Which reminds me, should anyone want 'that other scale', Belcher Bits offers a 1/72 KDA-1 kit with Lanc pylons.

-- http://www.belcherbits.com/images/172conv/bl6inst.pdf

And that raises a question: Did RCAF Lancaster 10DCs ever carry twin Firebees? IIRC, all the photos I have seen of KB848 and KB851 as 'DCs, show them carrying a single KDA-1 (despite twin pylons being fitted),

BTW, on the attached images, note that the Firebee is wearing USAF markings.

This is the current production Humvee too! Canada is supposed to buy several hundred of these to replace the Chevy Milverado and Mercedes G-Wagon.
