Help me pay for my wedding!
« on: May 13, 2016, 11:52:28 AM »
Greetings folks.

I recently conned a very lovely young lady into agreeing to marry me :D . Now I have to pay the price, er well, prices to be exact.

So to do that, I'm selling off a bunch of my extras. I'm giving you guys first dibs on things before they go up on ebay :x .

Make me an offer for what you are interested in. I can even do some trading if you have stuff I want, though I am mostly looking for cash money.

I'll be adding more to the list as I go through the stash and really weed out what I don't have a use for.

1/48

Monogram F-4J Phantom II/Mig Ace boxing- Opened, not started.  Most parts still on sprues, no decals though.

Misc scale

Monogram Wright Flyer - Sealed
Model Kawai 1/100 Douglas B-26 Invader - Opened, not started.  Instructions printed on box, no decals were provided.

Ships!

Monogram USS New Jersey 1/500 scale - Outer box opened, inner bag still sealed.  Destructions and decals present.
Revell USS North Carolina 1/570 scale - Opened and started (badly). Looks complete, decals and destructions present.
Revell USS Fletcher 1/306 scale - Opened, not started, but missing 2 pieces (the optional rocket launcher for B Mount, and the very undetailed torpedo crane).  Decals and destructions are present.

Sci-Fi

Revell Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper 1/35 scale - Outer box opened, inner bag still sealed.  Destructions and decals present.
PolarLights Star Trek Enterprise NX-01 1/1000 scale - Outer box opened, inner bags still sealed.  Desctructions and decals present, comes with aztec masks!
Monogram Star Wars Star Destroyer 15 inches long - Outer box is beat up and opened, inner bag is still sealed.  Destructions are present.
AMT Star Wars Star Destroyer 15 inches long with Fiber Optics kit - Outer box is opened, inner bags are opened too.  Destructions are present, and all the Fiber Optics appear to be present too.

Autos
Monogram 1/24 1953 Corvette - Opened, not started, all parts appear to be present.  Decals and destructions present.

Edited to add more models!

Another edit:  Sold some A-10s, and added more stuff.

Err some of us more jaded long term marrieds might advise keeping the kits and onselling the young lady as a better long term deal, and much cheaper ;) ;)

Seriously though,  hope it all goes well, but sadly nothing in that list that I gotta have.

Aint that the truth!  But then again, she knows where all the knifes are  :o

There is more to come, but yeah, most of these aren't going to be the greatest kits every produced.  Buying in bulk is an option though  ;)

Well, speaking as an "old married man" (be 39 years come the end of this next August), I can say that the right one makes a big difference.

Having said that, depending on where you are and the price, I might be interested in those Monogram A-10 kits.

Congrats TCT.  Does the future Mrs. TCT have a hobby?

The reason I ask is Mrs TBG never had a hobby so she is unable to comprehend my behaviour.  To her I have an obsession, Brain damage, Tri-polar personality etc. Which may have some truth to it due to the size of the stash but she does not see any value having an activity which brings joy internally only to me I guess.

She never asks about or complements me on my work.  :icon_sueno:
Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Thanks all!

Future Mrs TCT doesn't really mind the stash at all.  I'm just trying to cut down on some of the things I really don't think I'm going to get to or have any plans for.  Having some extra coin for the wedding and honeymoon will help too.

Evan, I'm located in Florida.  Make an offer on the kits, I'm never going to build them so I won't turn down a reasonable offer.  I know they aren't worth the retail prices  ;D

Marriages? Terrible things: wouldn't dream of paying for one......, ;)

Seriously, congrats TCT: hope it all goes smoothly.

My late mother was like that. The first time I finished a model after I got back into it, she looked at it for a long time, struggling to think of something nice to say, then finally settled on "well, do you think you could sell it?" as if the effort could only be justified if you could turn it into money. The funny thing was, she played guitar and painted, and had no problem justifying those things as profitless hobbies, but anything I did..... :(

Guys, he's getting married! Give the poor bugger some hope of a happy future!

Kids! Kids is good! They may be the bane of your life at times but they are one of the best things that can happen to you.

Even 15 to 17 year old girls! :o

No idea about boys, wasn't lucky enough to have one. :icon_crap:

Well, if it makes TCT feel somewhat more confident, if I could go back and do it all again, marrying this woman is something I would definitely do again.  Some career decisions, not so much...

Evan,

I just sent you a message.  I had tried before on the 14th and I thought it went through, but it may not have.  Please let me know if you do not receive anything.

I responded.  I thought I had the first time, but apparently either I didn't or it didn't go through.  In any case, you should have the info now.
