Gun Sights and Other Optics

I've been under the impression that tank daylight gun sights seem to operate like either periscopes or telescopes i.e. in a manner that requires them to be located directly above and/or in front of their users.

Has there been any daylight gun sight that uses both remotely-located cameras and TV monitors?  If there is, when did the first such sight appear?

Thanks in advance.
Forget about his bow and arrows- why wait until that sparrow has done his deed when I can just bury him right now 'cause I'm sick and tired of hearing why he wants to have his way with the cock robin!?
