Wow - that's coming along! Are you using wing warping on the main wings?

 Yes - from the drawing, it's fairly clear that the main wings were controlled that way - though the cables are not nearly as complicated
 as a Taube. This should be a good way of easing back into the most daunting part of any early aircraft build. I'm probably going to go with
 one or two more whiffs before I tackle a big project - either the Linke-Hoffman R I or R II.

 Thanks all - took me a minute to figure out 'CDL' ( Clear Doped Linen, yes? ) but thanks! ( And I have to note that the CDL is actually a shade of
 Model master acrylic called 'flesh'... ( Mwahahah ) But it looks a bit better than the sand yellow/light grey mix I tried first.

 I should also note this was a real aircraft - the only liberties I took were  with the wheels, which are a bit larger than the ones shown in the drawings.

 A long time favorite, the British A D Scout was intended for Anti-Zeppelin duties.
 
 It never carried its intended armament of a 2 pounder
 Davis recoilless gun, and probably just as well. What little information remains about the plane indicates it was rather flimsily constructed,
 and tricky to fly in the bargain. But I like the look of the thing, and where there's a whif, there's a way. Build pictures this evening.

Thanks, Frank - for a first attempt, I think it went pretty well. Here's the progress on the scout.


That Sopwith Triplane will provide the wheels, and since this is a whif, I'm giving it a larger  Lisbona-Svenska engine, beefing up the structure a bit, ( which will mainly consist of a lower crossbar strut for the tailplane, and slightly altered landing gear. ) More on the backstory of this
surprisingly-successful-in-another-reality interceptor as the build advances.

A year and half later, I pick this up again -

The white, or otherwise unpainted portions of the build are the results of the last couple of weekends. I had the bad luck/good fortune to pick up an Airfix BE 2c early last year, mainly because another modeling acquaintance had mentioned it came with Le Prieur rockets. Got home and discovered that the box was missing the pilot sprue, so I got in touch with Hornby's USA, and they very kindly sent me an entire new kit. The rockets, to my mild exasperation, were molded to a set of struts, but with a little trimming, they were just fine for the Scout. More about the build after a bit - got to get started on the work day.

Thanks, friends - glad to be back at it myself. I should be able to hit it with some primer this afternoon, if the weather holds good. Next up will be finally finishing the AEG G IVn, which along with the Vezdekhod Bolshoi, have been stuck in box I just got around to unpacking over the weekend. 

I have also started a couple of really ambitious projects, master patterns for a vacuform of the BFW N. 1, and the Dornier/Zeppelin RS. III. I hope to have the latter done by the time the Nationals roll back to Texas in 2024.

That's a bizarre looking plane! With the exhaust stacks pointing up, it reminds me of a beetle or similar insect. Great scratchbuild!

 Thanks, Frank & all - I am slowly getting better, but I still have some room for improvement. The engine, prop and wheels came from the recent Airfix BE 2 Nightfighter, along with the wing struts and Le Prieur rockets. I added a small scoop to the top of the engine, representing some kind
of supercharger. While the engine alone represents a 30% increase in power ( the original used an 80 hp Le Rhone, while the BE2c had a 115 hp*
Royal Aircraft Factory 1a engine. (I think the Airfix instructions list it as 120 hp. harumph.), I figured in it's intended role as an interceptor, it might have benefitted from a bit more oomph.
