Greeting my friends
After many many months away from the "modelling universe", I am slowly coming back :)
And I could not find a better way to "restart" than to evoke the glorious universe of "Dune"
portrayed by Mr Frank Herbert, many many years ago.
In this particular case, my very personal interpretation of a "melange snooper".
A vehicle used by the freemen to roam the vast open spaces of Arrakis in search of the precious substance...
I hope you like it!
The very beginning...

The concept is taking from...with the freemen pilot.
Pimping the ride a little bit :)

And the construction is pretty much done.

Now is time for warming up the airbrush!

Beautiful!! Come to think of it, it is nearly 50 years since Analog published the first installment of Dune (read it there as a teenager).
-
WOW!
-
Wow!
-
Had me at "Dune" :)
you do more with an old computer mouse than I do with an entire model kit!! :) :) Wonderful imagination
-
Please paint over that ladybug! Its totally throwing off my impression of this vehicle. Otherwise it looks pretty clever.
-
interesting. Looks good so far
-
wonderful!!

Hi folks
Thanks for the feedback!
After a few more minor detail tweaks, it was time for some "primer wash", to get rid of those divergent colors... ;)

The ladybug has lost its original glamour, and became a MAPS (Melange Advanced Probing System) :)
Thanks for watching!
Cheers

Great use of a mouse and what looks like an old modem cover! You still need a worm thumper, somewhere.
-
It's great to see you posting again, Antonio and I can only marvel at your boundless ingenuity!

Yes !.. and Yes! again.
I really like this and your use of "objects" such as mice is really well done.

Hi guys
Thanks for the nice words!
The gizmo has got some coloring, at last! :)

And with the freemen figure pretty much done:

Now is time for the last step: the weathering.
Thanks for watching!

Yet another mind-boggling use of diverse, found objects!
You have an imagination that's simply off the charts!

Hi Guys
Thanks for looking nad for the nice comments.
After a few very subtle weathering effects (the usual "acrylics +oils + pigments" routine), the project is done!
Here are some photos to prove it :)

I agree - it is great work.
Looking at this picture though:
I have to wonder if the pilot is also looking at and concerned about that "bug"...
-
I'd be poohing my dacks if I saw a bug that bug too!
that's the best use of mouse 've seen to date. love it!

Agreed. And, regardless of what the pilot thinks, I'm keen on the bug too!
-
Terrific.
Ready for a quick ascent on detecting Wormsign.
-
That looks great: the weathering is excellent. 8)
-
Agree - the weathering is sublime. I like the sun-faded highlights and the light pink subtle chips & scrapes.
-
Thanks for the feedback, guys!
-
Beautiful!! And I have to say that little "bug" looks like a great remote sensing platform for extending his range.
-
A great way to recycle some waste and to protect our environment..., grin!
...and with a convincingly result.

It's not a bug, it's a feature... ;)
