Yes, official invite sent now waiting to see if he will join us :)
Aaaaaannnnnd, here I am! :)
I love doing SF and what ifs as a brak from the uber accurate way I approach my "regular" builds.
Here are a number of others I've done over the years:
An LRDG-inspired walker based on the old AT-ST kit

The M10 Sherman from another angle

A light interplanetary courier from the old AMT AMTronic car kit

A Mercury Manned Orbital Laboratory concept from 1962

An interpretation of a Hammer's Slammers combat car

A command post version of the AT-ST in winter white wash

An 4-legged APC AT-ST variant

And a Hammer's Slammers 170 tonne "blower"

You'll fit in very nicely around here. Welcome aboard! :)

Great entrance Paul, glad to see you took me up on the invitation.
The AMT AMTronic car looks quite convincing as a space faring vehicle. One of our other members recently acquired that kit with the intention of doing something very much like that but as a scale-o-rama to 1:72nd scale.
Not too familiar with the Hammer's Slammers from the book but I think you captured the idea very nicely and that monster tank looks quite intimidating. I recognize parts from the M60A2/M60A1 but what other parts were used for this project?

Welcome to BtS! I love tanks, I love the Sherman, and I love Star Wars! In short, I like your models!
Cheers,
Logan

There are other photos of my models over in my gallery on the KitMaker Network gallery site if anyone wants to see more shots of these and some of my less speculative models.

Paul, do you have a link to a gallery page or are the models scattered all about the KitMaker Network Image Gallery?

Very nice work indeed. Having also built an IDF Sherman StuG, I would be great to see more of yours to compare our ideas. :)
-
I really like your paintwork, Paul!
Nice to have you here with us.

These are spectacular!! I love the last tank pictured the best, but these are all solid gold! Welcome aboard! :)

Great models Paul. Welcome to the site.

Outstanding entrance! Welcome aboard.
With all you outstanding armoured modellers around here now, I just knew we should have gone with the tank track addition to the Chimera!

It's never too late for a "mid version" upgrade ......... ;)

The basic Kitmake Gallery link is:

And my photos are all under my username "tankmodeler". Get to my gallery and you should find a lot of photos.

Well other than M60A2 parts, the rest was generally from the spares bin. The turret is the A2 turret fleshed out with a lot of epoxy putty to alter the shape a bit. You'll never guess what the main gun is: the launch Escape Tower from the old 1/48 Revell Apollo spacecraft kit with the end of an AMT X-Wing laser cannon pod at the front.

Paul thanks for guiding us to your gallery location. I tried to find it yesterday but my attempt rewarded me with a message that I would need to join in order to do the search by member name "tankmodeler" so I quit looking. Your own gallery folder is actually at this link: Home » Member Galleries » tankmodeler (http://gallery3.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/4127/sl/t)

Wow, I am quite impressed! All of these are very nice models but I especially like your "take" on the tank and combat car from Hammer's Slammers. It's a great combination of futuristic and Cold War aesthetics.

Great models, Paul! You should finish the Mercury one man space station. I built a version of it in 1/72 (without the Agena but with solar panels): http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=1917.0 (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=1917.0)

Welcome aboard! And mind the spats as you step onto the forum...they get everywhere!
Wonderful Hammers Slammers stuff - the closest I've seen to anything that good was from Ground Zero Games, so very nice work!
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I'll finish it eventually, but the main hull section was made out of a resin plug and it must not have been mixed correctly as it has started to sweat a solvent. The paint won't stick and the surface is starting to get chalky. At the moment, I'm really POed and have put it away so I don't fly it into a nearby wall... :)
When I get back to it I'll have to remake the main hull and then separate the other stuff from the hull and transfer it to the new hull. That's a major PITA, let me tell you. And I was just ready to paint, too!
Still better now than later, if teh fully painted vehicle had started to sweat, I'd have been more than p!ssed, let me tell you! :)
BTW, thanks for the kinds words, all. I don't finish too many models in any year, so it may be a long time between new sets of images.

With all you outstanding armoured modellers around here now, I just knew we should have gone with the tank track addition to the Chimera!
FYI, this was an early version of the Chimera that did include tank tracks...

Very nicely done art, they even got the little details right, like the color (cyan) of the power gun beams. I've enjoyed these stories since David Drake first started writing them.
