Title: Post-WW2 use of Axis weapons systems
Post by: Story on July 07, 2023, 05:39:01 AM
French troops trained in anti-tank warfare in Tunis using a captured German Pak 40 anti-tank gun to target a Fiat-Ansaldo Autoblindo 41 armored car in April 1945

Lots of room for interpretation

The French used a few axis weapons systems after the war - Pather tanks and Fi-156 Storch in French built variants. In the far East, they used Japanese aircraft post-war (mostly one flight and done) but the Ki-43II flew at least a handful of missions. They also made use of Type 95 Type 89 tanks.

Syria post-war purchased from Spain and Bulgaria Stug-111s and Panzer IVs and used them against Israel in 1956 and 1967 wars.

The Czechs used a lot of ex-nazi equipment.
T-38s as training tanks
Panzer IVs and Stug IIIs as MBTs
Panthers were converted to Bergpanthers
Lots of 1/2 tracks
Afrika Korps uniforms
Stg-44s and K-98s
Me-109s and He-IIIs

They also had Russian and British equipment and uniforms I suspect it was a logistical nightmare.

Are you referring to the Panzerkampfwagen 38(t)?  If so, one could argue that this was a Czech tank in the first place.

A number of Kreigsmarine U-Boats were used for research of their somewhat more advanced systems.
Type XXI for starters and some of the type XVIIB Walther powered boats..

Bit topical really, just finished a build of the Mikro Mir 1/144 HMS Meteorite, one of the above Walther powered boats.

And very nearly got Me-262's as they evaluated a Czech 2 seater but did  not order any.
