Maybe modify one to have a helicopter on the rear deck ala modern destroyers.

Convert it into an APD for amphibious operations.

Ooo...I'm like these ideas.  Maybe do a WWII era destroyer as an equivalent to a modern one with helicopter on rear landing pad (maybe Flettner Fl 282 or Focke-Achgelis Fa 223) plus SAMs (maybe even Something like Wasserfall in a VLS setup) ... :icon_music:

Combine the torpedo tubes into one set of eight and move the aft guns forward to allow room for a helicopter deck.  Alternatively, the deck space freed up could be used for a VLS for either solid- or liquid-fueled SAMs (Rheintochter or Wasserfall each as an example).
