Polainador Mk I - 1/72 mostly Airfix - done!
« on: June 12, 2020, 02:43:01 AM »
Hi guys

This my contribution to this memorial GB.

Sorry, no back story at this time.

The weird name comes from the portuguese word "polaina" which is the translation for "spat/spatterdash/spatteguard" :)

The project started as an Airfix 1/72 Henschel Hs123-A1, but soon turned into something rather different, with the aid of some parts from a variety of different donors.

The inspiration was the Hawker Bloodhound.  See the topic: http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=9079.0

And here is the result:

It still need some clean-up before the primer.

Thanks for watching!

Yep. Brian would love both the general weirdness and those scrummy Henschel spats - sorry, polainas   ;D

I am guessing that a certain diminutive brown canid will approve too  ;)

Thanks!

After a procrastination period I finally managed to advance to the painting phase.

So I thought green and white. And that is the result so far....

Now I need to find some decals to go with it.

Let me see what the spare box has to say about it :)

Thanks for watching, and keep safe!

Thanks!

And the work has advanced, with the gloss varnish, some decals and the base painting.

A few minor retouches and it is done.

Still deciding if I let it really shiny as it is, or if I tone it down a little bit with some matte varnish.

Decisions, decisions :)

Thanks for watching!

Shiny racer or semi-gloss racer? Hmmm? ???

Difficult choice! Glad it's yours! ;D

She looks good, by the way!

I'm thinking I've seen those cow decals on Ma.K kit sheets. ;)

And the decision was to let it shine!

So, after a few touches of mat varnish on the tires and exhausts, I called it a day.

Please find below the final photos of my humble tribute to Brian Perri.

Godspeed Brian!

P . S. -  Yes. the cow decals are from a Mak Falke kit. I started a back story involving a certain Messieur Victor de la Vache,  "V is for Vache", but never passed that phase :(

Concur with prior comments.  Called it a day at right point.  Fine derivative of Hawker Bloodhound concept.  8)
Have impression Polainador Mk I was used for protecting cow herds from natural predators and poachers.  ???
