How about successful, rather than failed deterrents?  Most prewar war / early war stuff is what failed to convince the other guy not to fight, how about gear that is so ludicrously capable, so totally over matched what the other side had, that they decided to be friends instead of enemies?  Bolo  ;) but other over matched sort of stuff too.

Maybe a milder type too, i.e. the overmatch the RAF claimed they had when they were convincing the British Government to fund the RAF bomber force over the Army and Navy but was shown to be an illusion at Munich is actually real, in that they actually have the capability they claimed.

Forgotten Fights GB - basically a GB for those lesser known conflicts.  For example, the North Russia Relief Force in 1919 (where for example Australians were awarded 2 VCs) or The Chaco War (1932–1935) between Bolivia and Paraguay.

The Football War between Elsalvador and Honduras in 1969. It involved Corsairs, Mustangs, T-28s and T-6s.

Whatever the decision is on the number and themes of next year's group builds I would propose a year end Clear Your Workbench GB.

Mog
>^-.-^<

I think it was decided last year that we have a year long 'clear your workbench' GB every year

With a new “Clear your workbench” gb each year I can just keep rolling my unfinished stuff into the new year!

That will suit me fine because everything is on hold for me at the moment. In the next month we will find out whether we are definitely staying where we are or will look at relocating.  If we stay will buy or build a new house within the next six months, if we relocate we will rent for a year then buy or build next year, none of the options bode well for hobbies and / or interests.

I’m pretty sure nothing is more of a PTA than moving. Take my advice, sort everything you have into three piles. First is the stuff you never use, second is the stuff you use once in a while and third is stuff you use every day. Keep the third pile and throw the rest away. Be brutal, it will be better in the long run. Especially if you are moving a couple times. Let the Salvation Army be your friend.

New suggestions, many derived from being the 100th, 50th or even 25th anniversary of an event/period:

  • War Continues into 1919 GB
  • Back to the Moon GB
  • Supersonic Flight GB - based upon it being the 50th anniversary of the Concorde first flight
  • Airliners GB - based upon it being both the 747 and Concorde first flight 50th anniversaries
  • Vietnam War GB
  • Storm GB - build for things with storm type names (e.g. Tempest, Typhoon, Tornado etc)
  • Top Gun GB - based upon it being the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Navy Fighter Weapons School
  • Rhodesian Bush War GB

Looking at Paul's build history;

Unfortunately most, if not all, of his model building tools & his kits would fall under the first 2 categories, something I think Mrs Volkodav may find a certain glee in. ;)

There may have to be a few exceptions made concerning tools and kits.

In last poll, all GB ideas that reached 10 or more votes were selected for 2019 GBs.

So let me recover those that got 9 votes for 2020 GB ideas.

Sweden GB
Airliner GB. Lets extend it to Civil Transport GB in order to include trains, buses and cars

Just had a thought:

Empire/Commonwealth GB - a GB for nations which were or are part of Britain but aren’t England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Lots of scope here, from a Scilly Isles militia to the Belize Defence Forces, from Hong Kong as an independent nation to Canada in WW3

And also Japan ‘46. Essentially just a continuation of World War Two in the Pacific.

New idea:  WWII in Sth America.  Basically, extend the war in an active way to the Sth American continent.
