"Land the Landing Force!"

We're starting the 2023 "From The Sea" Amphibious Group Build. Here are the rules:

1. Have Fun

2.Subjects must have the capability to move from liquid medium to solid medium.  In other words from sea to land.  It could be a submersible that can crawl onto the beach, it could be a hovercraft over an ocean of methane on the moon Europa. Anything is fair game as long as it is able to be classified as "amphibious." Amphibious aircraft would also be valid subjects for this group build.

3. GB runs from 00:01 1 May 2023 until 11:59 31 July 2023.

4. Digital and Physical models will have their own categories.

5. Direct questions to the moderator.

6. HAVE FUN!

This thread will serve as the inspiration thread to spur ideas and discussion.

I suppose the mods would have to include something that lets it move on land.

An Amphi-sub? If its modifications were wheels/tracks or air cushions to allow it to move under its own power over land? YES!

How about air to land or water? I have an Ekronoplane that supposedly could deliver troops.

If I had a kit of one on hand, a Convair R3Y-1 in USnNcolors from the Vietnam conflict would seem appropriate

Hi,
Although I still have to finish up my build for the Unmanned Group Build, I have an idea for an amphibious Fire Support Vehicle that I might want to give a try here.  Basically, the idea is that since the US Marine Corp has decided to get rid of its tanks, to try and come up with some sort of amphibious vehicle that can still provide some level of direct and/or maybe indirect fire support for ground forces.  So in some ways I guess it might be kind of similar to an amphibious version of the US Army's Mobile Protected Firepower vehicle, but not necessarily the exact same vehicle with just some propellers added on.
Regards
Pat

Actually, I should have made it an R3Y-2 with the bow loading and unloading door, R3Y-1 was more of a personnel transport.  OTOH, I can see a scenario with a R3Y-1 alongside a pontoon dock and unloading troops while an R3Y-2 beches its bow and starts unloading vehicles.n
