Suggestions:
B-Wing Lightning : pod, one inner wing, engine/boom, one outer wing, weapon pod under wingtip.
My SF knowledge was so poor I did not know what is a B-wing (thanks Google), and here comes the B-Wing like Wea-38BW:

Nicely done Tophe! That's just what I had in mind.  :) :D

Isn't the Mak Faulke made out of two P-38 booms plus other parts?

I forgot to explain the colours:
- they are selected by my son who has never visited inter-galactic area
- like houses in Sweden snow, in outer space there is a lack of bright colours so the spacecraft wear flashing colours
- this is a tribute to our friend Ericr models and this spacecraft is named Ericraft...

great color choice  ;) ;) ;) thanks!

and great inspiration : a couple of rockets and an appropriately scaled P-38, it really is doable!

I didn't know what was the Mak Faulke (or Falke says Google) but we found it, and I drew it with the help of my son Jacky-Jemsey:

Thanks!

Is because of Tophe's earlier (lotz of them) P-38 slanting views that I built the F-138.
Depending on your point of view, Tophe receives credit or blame.

From the space fell three flying saucers (Roswell, 1934), they inspired the design of the P-38 airplane...

The best inspiration may be a Web-site called "Beyond the Sprues", Sci-Fi department...
Dear aeroplane driver presented such a space Lightning (XFA-77A) at http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=1019.0
and here are its forefathers XFA-38A, 38B, 76A:

Yes it is.   IIRC, the body is made from a small car bodyshell (?)

I have found on the Web another space-P-38, the Porax-38 (see http://www.kid4life.com/yoda2/TitaniumImperialPorax38.htm). I imagine older versions of it:

I feel puzzled: I have seen that a spacecraft may have propellers (below) http://vi.sualize.us/x_wing_from_the_wwi_era_by_michael_psiaki_lego_starwars_star_wars_bricks_picture_8LxM.html
And the Mars planet has indeed an atmosphere (of COČ) where a propeller may work, so (with liquid oxygen aboard to burn fuel) what's the difference with Earth planes?

Back in the 1950's, when a bit less was know about Mars, it was believed that it might be possible to land with enormousgliders - Frank3K posted an excellent picture with the Glider in the background in Nil's Mars Tank thread.

I don't know enough about atmospheric density to be certain, but at only 1% of the density of Earth's atmosphere, a propeller
driven craft working on our Mars deosn't seem likely. But on the Barsoom of John Carter....

More SF education for you: look up a Bespin Cloud Car. Basically two P-38 cockpit pods on a short wing.... ;)
