What has always struck me about the HMMWV is how little room there is, inside, despite the external size of the vehicle.   The one I've examined was a hard top it had only seats for four soldiers.   A long-wheelbase Landrover which is narrower and about the same length has room for ten (I have seen nineteen in one though).

There is the troop carrier version with bench seats under a canvas top. Two in front and 8 in the back.

The original post that started this topic has several links to "all things HMMWV" and the majority of the variations on the HMMWV theme are covered with descriptions and peeeeectures...

In my experience, the number of seats in a US Army vehicle is no indication of how many people it can carry. There are even some long standing jokes about it.
Q: How many troops can you fit in the back of a humvee/deuce/5 ton/ cattle car/ etc?
A: Two more!

Well, that's reassuring. I thought it was only the Corps that did this.

I started out as an 0311 (Rifleman) and we would pack those 5-tons to the bursting point (moreso when we were headed back to garrison from the field than headed out on an FEX).  Later, I lat-moved to Data Comm and learned that there was a supposed "max pax" of 20 in the back of those same 5-tons.  I had never heard of such lunacy! All that wasted space!

Only to exceed downunder in an emergency.  The Occ. Health and Safety Officer would be on you ASAP if you found to be routinely exceeding the maximum passenger limit (and yes, such a creature does exist in each unit, he's usually the Adjutant who gets given all sorts of odd jobs no one else desires).  I've seen several Sergeants reamed for doing that.   How did 19 diggers get into a Landrover?  No one was looking...

It's an IRAM (improvised rocket assisted munition or mortar) http://www.conflict-news.com/articles/why-tactically-useless-irams-are-so-popular-in-iraq-and-syria

The rockets are manufactured from LPG Gas Cylinders, with a hollow tail welded onto their rear, through which the exhaust works.

In regards to the HMMWV mounted quad fifty, I found a towed M45 system molded in plastic and in 1/72 scale on eBay today. Unfortunately, as like most retirees, my check has run out so I have to wait until the end of the month to add it and an appropriate Hummer to carry it.
I'd also like to ask this, what happened to the variety of Hummers in 72nd scale? At one time they were all over the place, now, it's hard to find even one ambulance from Revell. One would think that with how well their other kits in this scale that either Aoshima, Fukimi, or Hasegawa would be either be purchasing unused molds form a very popular European company or making their own. As I earlier stated, it seems that in real life, wheeled vehicles are the most common types of combatant
'soft' skins seen in most conflicts and news reports.

I remember Tamiya did a 1/10 scale RC version of that. Would have been around 1980 or so?

That's one of the LMA002 prototypes, LM stands for "Lamborghini Militaria", the
gun is most likely a  mockup and the LM series wasn't part of the HMMWV program,
it grew out of the FMC built, but not designed, XR311 for the High Mobility Combat
Vehicle
(HMCV) program. Lamborghini bought the XR311 design and used it to develop
the mid-rear engined Cheetah, which was followed by the LM001. The engine position
wasn't ideal so Lamborghini designed the front-engined LM002.

The Saudis were supposedly going to buy a bunch of the LMA002 but it didn't happen.

Tamiya did the XR311 and the Cheetah on the same chassis.

The only LM002 models are expen$ive 1/18 diecasts, 1/43rd diecasts starting around US $50 and going up,
1/64th collector diecasts and a Matchbox version, also 1/64th. New Ray did a 1/32nd diecast back around
2005-2006, but they seem to be fairly rare now and expensive used.

These folks offer a printable body file, description states that it's designed for multiple scales, but it doesn't
given any details:
https://3dprintable.shop/product/lamborghini-lm002-pickup-1986-printable-car-3d-model-stl/

The Tamiya XR311 has been re-released at least twice and can currently be found new online, and on ebay,
for far less than what's being asked on ebay for used examples.
 ;D

Oh, yeah one guy is offering the box from the Tamiya Cheetah for US $39.99 + US $40.00 shipping. That's
just the box.
 ;D :-\

p.s. that Otaki Cheetah is in the US $300 range, and the Tomita 1/62 US $100 +.  ;D
