exkiwiforces:
I came here via Kiwi Zac when he posted a link to here from the Wings over New Zealand Forum site while I was in the St John of God Hospital Xavier ward for PTSD patients and while was I read on a couple of subjects close to my heart. Another name pop up from another forum site that I'm not a member of due to my line work and his name is Volkodav which btw I enjoy reading his posts at this other site.

A little about i'm Australian born, but I spent of time living New Zealand where I did 4 and half yrs in the RNZAC- New Zealand Scots SQN 93-98 before I made D to move to UK via Australia, but some how ended up staying here and joined the RAAF Ground Defence. I done a number of tours to the MER and East Timor.

Since I was AME home early/ mid Nov as I had a race down the rabbit hole and in between being section under the mental health act in which lost my firearms and along with m interest in fishing. My partner brought kitsets to try and take my mind off a few things. I got back to building ships at 1/700 scale as I already a lot of diecast planes and tanks. I told her building small ships requires a almost a Zen approach, so to get my eye back in groove before I start getting to more advance stuff what ifs.

I'm starting a few generic models so far I've completed: HMS Rodney in per war/ early WW2, Graf Spree around near the battle of the River Plate and Admiral Hipper Class cruiser.

Models to yet to be built are the: Gneisenau, Scharnhorst, 3 Z Class destroyers, HMS King George V, HMS Nelson and 2 O Class destroyers. As you have might have guess I'm into the Kriegsmarine, the Royal Navy and Commonwealth Navies. Post War Royal Navy and Commonwealth Navies and the what ifs to the Royal Navy and Commonwealth Navies. So may long term goal is to build some what if's based around the Far East Forces and some RNZAF Aircraft what if's as had a few relations on a few project teams between the 60's, 80's and 90's.

I have one question are the Friedman and D K Brown Books worth buying or should I look as where?

Old Wombat:
G'day, mate! Welcome to our little bubble of weirdness! :)

Introductions are generally done through the Introduce yourself...don't be shy!!! thread in the Back Bar (Link: http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?board=41.0) but we'll generally say "Hi!" anywhere we find you!

As always Rule #1 is HAVE FUN!! ;D

Hope to see some of your work soon. :D

Might have guess, the Back Bar sounds like a few of the old pubs here in NT where the strippers hang out doing their stuff

Old Wombat:
I can guarantee you that stripping is the last thing you'd want to see most of us do! ;D ;D

Lived in Darwin for 4 years (1984-1988) as a cop, nurse & broken-footed pongo before finally returning home to SA. Did a couple of years (almost 3) in the RAN FAA prior to that working on Grumman Trackers.

Volkodav:
Welcome and thanks for the plug although re-reading some of my posts I believe they may have been written while under the influence of pain killers.

Love ship models myself but haven't finished any recently as I have found doing anything personal to be incompatible with having primary school aged children, I am looking forward to seeing you post some of your work.
