  Anything But Military GB: July 01, 2014 - September 21, 2014

As the name states 'Anything but Military', which includes any sort of military equipment (air, land,
sea, space, real or fictional) repurposed for civil duties. For the purpose of this GB, Anything but Military,
does not mean it has to cuddly bunny, just not formally 'Military' as in 'the armed forces of the State'.

Fire, emergency and police duties qualify, with the exception of SWAT and similar units as they are
military in all but name.

Real world and sci-fi/fantasy (Steampunk, transhuman, etc.) along with post-apocalypse (Mad Max,
zombies, vampire plaque, Terminator etc.) scenarios are welcome.

Swords into Ploughshares concepts are highly encouraged, the post-apocalypse civvie vehicle turned into
a guntruck etc. has been done to death, so howabout a tank towing a plow? or ... ?

Or simply just build a real world airliner, small plane, car, truck, train, boat or ship. The subject doesn't
have to 'whiffed' to take part.

Current in work projects are allowed as long as they are less than 75% complete, it's up to the individual
to determine what they feel is their current state of completion, and the intended role/finish is 'civvie'.

Have fun.

Sooo, to make the description shorter:

- I can start from anything, or make it up if I don't find a satisfactory starting point.
- The final result cannot be in use by the military of any government.

Right?

Doesn't look like I'll get my project finished, too many non-hobby related distractions at the moment ---  :icon_sueno:  and winters coming (snow has been forecast for this week   :o  ) so got to get the yard cleaned up --

Various other things have had to take priority for various reasons, but I still intend to finish my BAS Skyvan and should, in theory, be able to do it by the finish date. That may be famous last words, of course....

I just now realized what I'm currently building and the next 2 I have planned fit into this catagory, I probably won't make the deadline though. I'm working too slow and making very little progress.

Does that mean the 21st may not be the cutoff? I only have PSR and paint to do so I MAY make it before the 21st...

And I only have a low quality camera in a phone to photograph it with, that may work in my favor a little by covering up my poor modelling skills ;)

Looks like I could get some more of my project done, was in Red Deer today and got my blue paint sorted out, wasn't quite the shade I was looking for before --- Plus my other nose weight broke loose so had to fix that problem too.

Aww thanks: I just came on here to plead and now I don't need to.... :)

I decided in my distinctly finite wisdom to fill my BAS Skyvan with cargo, but getting it, choosing it and painting it is taking an age, and I can't progress much with the rest of the plane until it's done. The upshot is that it's starting to look good and I'm getting enthusiastic about it (i.e. over the mid-project slump), so the chance to not rush it is most welcome.

I promise I'll post some update pics tomorrow!

Whew. I am within sight of finishing, but I didn't count on my back going out on me. I'll be back to abnormal in a few days, but right at the moment, I don't think I could move the piece to photograph it :-[.  Thanks for the extension.

Wishful thinking I'm afraid, I've been so busy I haven't had time to do any hobby stuff ----  :-X

I'll have to post mine as a normal build at a later date as I won't make the finish date. Even if I did my computer won't let me into photobucket >:(

I'm afraid I'm probably not going to make it either. The paint on my is coming out so pale when airbrushed that it'll take too many coats, and therefore too many paint/cry cycles, to finish on time.

Nobody's fault but mine I'm afraid: I could have finished it a while ago, but I've become very distracted by non-modelling stuff, some of which is important and some of which isn't. :-[

Definately not going to make it now: paint has crept under the masking fluid I used on the canopy and spoiled it. No realistic way back from that before tomorrow. Sorry folks.
