Joint Strike Harrier

Finally have some free time, time to get building! I've got a lot of backlogged projects that I want to do, but amongst the chaos I will be working on this:

The starting point will be this old Harrier kit I built years ago:

I believe its a 1/48 scale Hasegawa. A long way out of my preferred scale range(1/1250-1/144), but it was a gift so I felt bad about getting rid of it.

This Harrier will be the first participant of my Phoenix program, where I use old crappily built models in new and interesting ways(essentially a recycling program, but phoenix sounds so much cooler while still being relevant to the concept).

Anyway, the theory of this build is that I can use the existing body as a frame that I can cover with plasticard and by the end of the build the only things visible from the old kit will be the canopy, gear and nozzles. That's the theory, whether or not I can pull it off - we'll just have to wait and see.

Oh and I will also be working on a 1/700 scale version which has absolutely nothing to do with the new Izumo kit that I've got coming.

Phoenix program sounds good! Could be a group build concept.
I'll be watching this one.

YES! I remember seeing that painting in a library book and immediately wanting one (along with the Marauder WIG). Keenly following!
