My build of the Tamiya 1/35 US Navy PBR 31 Mk.II Patrol Boat 'Pibber' (35150)

A smashing kit and one I heartily recommend! This build was enhanced by the use of the Eduard PE set 53010.

Good stuff, Dave!

I have two in the stash, I really should build one soon ... Mind you, that could be said for 90% of the stash. :-[

Nice work! Haven’t see a PBR build in quite a while. Thanks.

Definitely captures the moment with the weathering and details.

The one thing that always bothered me was Tamiya coining the name "Pibber" for this model as that made absolutely no sense and as far as I can tell was never used by the crews to describe their boats.

Aside from that I really like the model, have a few in the stash and often wonder what I could do to make a what-if out of the model.  Maybe cover over the gun mount on the bow and put a lighter weapon in that position?  Or take all of the weapons off and turn it in to a fishing boat?  Beach boat with surfboards and water skis?

Looks like all it could be.  Anchor & rope and well painted figures, etc...  add lot of character.

Like Jeff said.  Fishing or beach boat treatment also be interesting.

"Charlie don't surf!!!"

Well how the hell can he with these gunboats all over the place?

Great stuff and sure brings to mind the classic movie.

Gotta be the best PBR since Pabst.

Thanks everybody.

Here are two pictures without the canopy on during construction so that you can see the detail within. Note the Playboy posters:

BTW, the Grand Tour Season Four opener called "Seamen" has Jeremy Clarkson cruising around Cambodia in a newly-built Pibber. Well worth a watch!

Agree, it is a nice enough kit, without too many vices.

Nice Job Dave
