So down into the junkyard aka my modelling room I go and pull out a Modelcraft Wellington and Halifax. These Modelcraft kits are really rough. Very brittle plastic and lots of flash. But cheap as borscht.
This is the Welly with Halibag wings. Very easy to retrofit. I may shorten the wings as they are bit longer the original wings:
Welly: Wingspan: 86 ft 2 in (26.26 m)
Halibag: Wingspan: 104 ft 2 in (31.75 m)
Otherwise a nice easy quick-n-dirty mix-n-match.

Hmm, put the welly into a Wellington by upping the ceiling with long wings :D
-
Long wings: low speed loiter over U-boats and SAR locations.

I'm liking it!
Wish I could find a Wellesley, this GB would be perfect for my Welleslington (Wellesley fuselage x Wellington wings = tri-motor) concept. ;)

Be great to see this evolve

From the UK? ???
A bit hit-or-miss with postage to Australia, at the moment, but (Curse you, robunos! :icon_punal:) the Welleslington has been a project I've long desired to build, so I'll probably order a couple of the Valom kits on payday. ::)

Sorry, :-[
I wasn't trying to suggest that you had to buy one from the UK, just to show that Wellesley Kits are still available, although a bit expensive. You'll need a LRDG version, or a spare engine+cowling, to build a Winchester, though . . .
cheers,
Robin.

Thanks for the comments. I will admit it was a spontaneous idea. Also H/T to Bill (finsrin) for the inspiration.

That Modelcraft Wellington looks like the ex-Frog kit that never was. I mean Frog never released it but all the Frog-Spawn have. How available are they Carl ?
With those big wings, you could really do with the Wellington Mk.V conversion. And the Frog kit is the only kit you can use it with.

Interesting.
With the wings and empennage so close together it's almost a tandem-wing being quite short-coupled.
In real world terms you'd want to either reduce the wing area or move the empennage aft.

Or maybe have a longer fuselage? I'm wondering if part of the Modelcraft Halifax centre fuselage couldn't be bodged into a fuselage extension for the 'Wimpy]?
And perhaps move the empennage up to 'shoulder' height for more vertical tail clearance?
