Title: Honorable Mars Trading Company, Marsman
Post by: Camthalion on February 25, 2019, 06:26:52 PM
I know I have many unfinished threads on here, must get back to them one day, but I've wanted to build a ship based on the one in the book  Arabella of Mars ever since I read it.   So since my favourite online hobby shop had the Academy New Bedford Whaler at a cheap price I ordered 3, I have plans for all 3 hulls, but this ship is my priority.  Since they arrived today I made a start.  The ship will a Marsman of the Honorable Mars Trading Company, named the Princess Erika.

The book cover that inspired the build

I'm not familiar with the book but if the cover art is any indication, this is gonna be one fantastic model!

Looks like you're off to a wizard start too!

Thanks fellas.   Finished my block of shifts and started to slap some paint on, but the missus decided I had other things to do today first instead

Had mine for a while.  It was issued to me when I  was Onboard Electrician on the long distance passenger trains.

Managed to get some paint on her today and break the bowsprit.  Hopefully some more tomorrow as I won't have time next week for modelling.

Wow that looks great and I really like that long...oar(?).

I'm reassured knowing I'm not the only one busting off fiddly bits. Sometimes it's like I'm wearing boxing gloves when I'm at the bench.  :-\

Will look forward to your next update,

Yarrgghhh she be lookin' ev'ry bit like an oar to this lily-livered land-lubber Cap'n!

(Where's the pirate emoji when you need it?)

Thanks for the explanation.
