The aftermath of the K-T impact. furious volcanism continues weeks after the event, the resulting plume wrapping around Earth. Nearby land areas are largely scoured to the bare rock by mega tsunamis, which washed over the closer secondary craters. Acrylic on illustration board.

Some fabulous news for de Havilland Mosquito fans with the announcement that Avspecs Ltd. has been commissioned to restore a 5th Mossie airframe - this time destined for the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar in the UK. "Once completed the aircraft will complete a commemorative tour of New Zealand, Australia and then on to the UK in honour of the Commonwealth pilots that flew the" type during the Second World War.

Avspecs is currently working on Mossie No.4 NZ2308, an Australian built T.43 which when completed is bound for the USA.

And a small note on the below photo - this is a composite image depicting the three airworthy Mosquitos that have so far been reconstructed in New Zealand - Gavin Conroy from Classic Aircraft Photography photographed each aircraft individually and put the image together in collaboration with designer James Orphan from Classic Wings Magazine.

No doubt this image will need to be updated in the not to distant future. 😁

Not to downplay the human tragedy, but I find this image fascinating.

If it's not clear from the caption, red is uplift, and blue is depression.
The image was produced by the EU's Sentinel-1A radar mapping satellite.
