Hi everyone,
I started to assemble this aged (2002) Tamiya kit:

to make the White-painted Gloster Meteor F Mark III, EE239 of Squadron Leader D. Barry, No. 616 Squadron RAF (B58/Melsbroek, Belgium).

nice kit.  The early ones over Europe (white ones) in 1945 didn't have speed-brakes so I puttied them over.

The first of the two Rolls Royce Welland engines is almost ready..
What do you think? Any tips for improving it?

The engine looks great! Some of the pictures online show the air intake screens in a lighter color, but those may be new or museum engines. Other pictures show the engines as if they had just been removed (or were going to be placed in) an aircraft and the screens look dark, like yours.

With starter oil and dust/debris stopped by the screens, I think a darker color is probably correct.

How visible will the engines be in the final build?

Not at all (apart from the tail nozzle) but on the kit the tops of the nacelles are removeable to show them.  I only did one engine keeping the other to put on a dolly like Tamiya provided in their Mig-15 kit

The basic white really displays the elegant lines of the Meteor. 8)

Nicely done, Rod!
