I really like how that JF-17 is coming along, Damian! The colors remind me of how some planes look after final assembly on the factory floor before heading off to the paint shop.

In the U.S. version of English, we refer to that painting technique as applying a wash. As with many things artistic, the French have a more elegant way to say it.

Thanks Brian  :D
It's exactly what I want to do, an aircraft just after final assembly. For the diorama, it will have a mechanic from a Hasegawa set doing final inspection and the floor paint as the first picture of Greg and maybe a tool box.

I made some mistake during the paint job like the green too light and a missing green zone in the underside but unfortunately I saw that too late for the last one...

Thanks for the "wash" word, I knew it but I forgot  :-[

Since my trip, I try to don't use Google Translate when writing my message to make some progress, so feel free to correct me if I make a mistake it will be helpful  :)

Hi guys,

The JF-17 is not finish yet because I'm running out of white paint for the moment...  :-[
But the mechanician is done :

Did by a member of my scale model club, a figurinist  :)

Otherwise, I found an A340-300 in my stock and I want to do a military variant. For this, I watch the 707 and 737 conversion in the US and found 2 candidates as basis :

- E-8C JSTARS:

- 737 AEW&C :

- Or a mix of JSTARS and AEW&C (an excuse to put anti-roll keel of the AEW on the JSTARS  ;D )

Which one do you prefer ?
Or do you have any other idea ? (except Tanker and rotodome AWACS)

Given it is an Airbus product, make L'Armee de L'Air and add all the bumps and bulges and blades and baguette's as required as the French like to have indigenous technology and control over their military systems.

Maybe make it a French equivalent to the E-8 or perhaps a joint British/French alternate to the RAF's Sentinel R.1s but using the same systems:

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

You can't outrun Death forever.
But you can make the Bastard work for it.

Bit like one of the early E-10A proposals:

Didn't know this pics of the E-10, thanks Greg. I will go on this configuration in this case  :)

Of course, it will be a French Air Force aircraft. I have found enough decal for squadron, registration and Air base number.

For the moment, no many things to show. The fuselage is close and the wings are in progress :

How did I miss this?? Way cool Damien! I love the A330/340 and had often thought of making the A-330 MRT. I got excited when Revell re-released the 330 recently in Thai markings but I realised it was still the same old tooling. I'm going to have to make sure I check your read more often

Thanks Simon.

I really love the 330 too. I plan to make a MRTT like you with the new revell box (need to find a box before) and I think you'll be interested by this build if you didn't know it already :

(In czech but pics speak by themself.)

Do you that an AWACS version (10m rotodome) will appear for the Indian AF in the next few year ? (Airbus won the contract recently for 6+4 aircraft, that's why I didn't want to make a rotodome AWACS for this 340)

Back to the 340 build.
I started the military conversion :

And what it look like with modifications (execpt the ventral canoe) :

Hi Brian, thanks for your words  :D

Alongside the F-404-GE diorama, I will bring back an old kit started since almost 7 years : Mirage IV 1/48.
Pollux gave me some idea with his thread ( http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=5753.0 ).

It will be a long terme because I had to rescribe the kit but I will have some time to loose in evening starting from next week (I finally found a job ).
Somes details for this project (I haven't finish every details) :
- Mirage IV, French Air Force (squadron unknowed for the moment, maybe the "Gascogne")
- Improved cockpit (Mk10, glass cockpit)
- Improved engine (ATAR 9K50)
- IFF in front on the nose
- More antennas
- 1 semi recessed fuel tank
- Various load-out (Magic II, GBU, AS-30, jamming pod under 8 pylon (2 for each wing + 4 under fuselage)

Some pics of the stuff I found for the project :

- Heller Mirage IV 1/48 (before dismantlement and rescribing) :

- Kittyhawk Mirage F-1 exhaust nozzle (ready to make resin copy) :

- From Wingman Kfir C.10 box :

- Some stuff from Academy F-15C (a friend gave me those sprue he don't need) :

- From Kinetic Mirage 2000 (AS-30L) :

- From Kinetic Mirage IIIE (AS-30, Magic II, 1700l tank) :

For the GE diorama, I'm working on the starting group at this moment  ;) (no pics because progress are mostly sanding the part)

Hi guys,

My last finished build. MQ-9 Reaper in Ace Combat scheme from Skunkworks Models in 1/72th.
The decals come from the remaining of a decal sheet (Su-33 Hasegawa Ace Combat) sent by Madhatter :)

Hope you like it  :D

Thanks Greg and Brian  :D

Brian, for the weatering of the underside (as for the upper), I use the same technique as here :

http://www.master194.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=94481&start=75#p1190074

Oil paint directly apply on the acrylic paint (Gunze). Let dry until the oil became matt (15-20min) and wipe with a dry tissu to remove all excedent ;)

I'm working on 2 next project. 1 A321 from Asiana Airlines and a whif, but keep this one for me for the moment  :P

Hi guys,

Here is my last build (finished yesterday) since the Reaper. Also a whif based on Ace Combat video game universe.

The kit is from Heller in 1/72th scale and build out of the box (except for the shaft between turbine engine and main rotor transmission box) :

And with the Reaper in background:

Hope you like it  ;)
