Gerry Anderson/Derek Meddings short film homage
« on: January 14, 2013, 06:03:05 AM »
Greetings All,
I've just completed work on a short film that pays tribute to the wonderful TV shows of Gerry Anderson, such as "Thunderbirds", and the creative FX genius that was Derek Meddings. Having watched these programs since they were first shown in the 1960s, I know that many modellers gain a host of inspiration from the designs of the aircraft and vehicles that graced our TV screens when we were but children. Over a year in pre-production and taking two months to shoot, "Dogfight! Redux" is an 11 minute testament to what you can achieve when you have enough friends and neighbours around to help out. The film's release is quite timely considering the passing of Gerry at age 83 just last month and I hope that members of this wonderful forum will find something of interest in it. The film can be found at:
Dogfight Redux

If anyone is interested in behind-the-scenes material, along with a wealth of photos and information, please visit my blog at:

Comments and/or suggestions are most welcome. Many thanks for taking the time to check this out.
Cheers and good modelling, Space Captain Greg Martin

Hi Greg:

If I had seen this clip without your introduction and background, I would have not been able to distinguished it from an original Gerry Anderson piece.

Congrats on an awesome job and helping us older folks recall the days of only 12 TV Channel Universe and a dearth of "hardcore Sci-fi" shows for us 5 year old's.  ;D

Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

My compliments, Greg.  That's a superb tribute and it would not be at all out of place as one of his productions (and, yes, I recognize that you used some of the same modelling effects he did, including working from existing kits, to produce it - more power to you).

Once again, BRAVO!!!

What a cool film! Very nice nod to mister Meddings and the Gerry Anderson shows. I dare say some of those shots look way cooler than CG ever will.

Nice job.
