Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 Rocket Plane

Hi All

Number 2 is complete, but this one has a bit of history .

I started this one over a year ago simply because I was intrigued by its origins and its diminutive size.

It is a Russian Modelcraft kit built straight out of the box, it was a pig of a kit to build, very few parts fitted  probably due to the age and poor maintenance of the mould.

The Decal sheet was also useless. Not enough stars (three of each size  duh!) and when I used the lettering they disintegrated. So I used Spares from the decal stash and a dry decal number.

Part way through the construction I managed to loose the canopy and couldn't find a replacement, so lost interest and put in a box in the Drawer Of Possibilities and moved on.

Fast forward to Telford and one of the stalls was selling the same aircraft (different manufacturer) in a plastic bag with 20th generation photocopied instructions and no decals for a £1. Bingo !  I had a canopy and the fit wasn't too bad either just a bit of careful fileing and clearfix crack filling.

The rest as they say, is history. Here's the pics.............

And finally the scale shot........

Against Arthur Brain and the yellow landrover it looks tiny!

Despite all the problems I'm still happy with the result.

All comments and criticisms accepted, as always

Nicely done! At one time I had two of these, and a vacuform in the same scale...I had a notion of doing a history of the Rocket aircraft display, but...got distracted.

Pretty sure I passed my one of these on to KiwiZac.

Nice job, 'Mog! Has a very functional, Soviet, look to it.
