Great restoration! It wouldn't look out of place in Space:1999 or UFO. It also looks like a far more stylish Reliant Robin.

Blast from the past, one I too had built in my youth.

Really nice work and how cool is the driver dude.

Is that Fred from Scooby Doo?
Nice work! Did you strip off all that old paint?

Thanks everybody!

Yes, the driver is based on Fred Jones from Scooby-Doo. However, I missed a trick in not giving him a pair of flairs!

The parts were put in a freezer bag along with a good dose of Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner and left for 24 hours. Note that this stuff is powerful stuff and ventilation and protective gloves is a must when using it:

Here the parts have been rinsed of Mr Muscle, cleaned with soapy water and then rinsed with water. Once that was done I was able to carry out some more disassembly. It is now ready for final cleaning up before painting and re-assembly:

The last image of the car turned over on one side reminds me of the Mr. Bean films and his extreme dislike for the Reliant Robin three wheel cars.

Is that kit currently available or long out of production?  I have never seen that kit before and it being 1/32nd scale means it has compatibility with most of our other 1/35 and 1/32 scale projects.

Your cleaning technique looks to be quite effective.  Never tried that particular brand of cleaner but I have uses Clorox brand bleach to get similar results that took about two weeks to achieve in an attempt to remove the chrome plating from some parts.

I find Mr Muscle is okay for most paint and chrome. However, I have found that it refuses to budge the chrome from parts found in Heller's latest kits. Domestos bleach tackles it though.
