Have recently started building 1/144 scale aircraft. It has certainly rekindled the modelling mojo. I really like this scale despite the fact I need to wear my glasses to work on them now. Anyways have decided to start a thread where they can all be kept in the one place,
First up some I did a while ago.

and the latest. La-5FN. Zvezda

Those are some real beauties! You have an enviable talent for air liners. I've built the DC-3 myself but yours is much nicer.
The Battle and La-5 are little gems as well. I especially like the look of the tinted canopy against that famous RAF camo.
I think 1/144 is an under-appreciated scale and it's a treat to see your outstanding results with it!

Thanks Brian. I'm really enjoying this scale at the moment

Yet more little lovelies! The Sturmovik is great but that Stuka is really sweet!
Not only is the canopy framing impressive but my what a sleek, streamlined undercarriage!
:-* :-* :-*
Sometimes spats are even better in a smaller scale!

Two more. Basically they just needed decals and clear coating

nice little birds, nice to see someone else besides me taking on this small but sometimes challenging scale 8)
-
Thanks Fellas. Enjoying this scale right now.
Finally have finished one of the New Cap city helicopters/ autogyro, whatever it is, although not in the scale I started with. Made from the Zevzda Bf109. Engine cowling is a 1/72 Chaffee road wheel. Rotor hubs are 1/72 Sherman road wheel with cut down 1/72 B-17 prop hubs. Booms are a combination of brass and plastic rod. Rotor blades are cut down from a 1/72 chopper.

Wow your Cap City helicopter is fantastic!
I think your work on those rotor hubs really paid off! They look most convincing!
You mentioned another thing I like about 1/144, that larger-scale wheels and other doo-dads can be used. Helps keep the spares box from exploding.
Great stuff!

Thanks Brian

-
Beatuiful!! Looks like a successful collaboration between Messerschmitt and Focke-Angelis.
-
It takes a very special sort of madness to model in 1:144----my hat's off to you! What incredible artistry!
-
The autogyro looks great! That Zvezda soft plastic can be a bear to work with, too.
-
thanks fellas
-
Wow! Lurve that helicopter, and the others, so much skill in such a small scale.

You've got quite a way with those Mustangs too.

Ended up placing most others on hold to start my O/400.

finished construction and got the base coat on today.

Now *that* is impressive; more so if you add the rigging but impressive even now.

Agreed. Great subject! How about a postwar Handley Page O/7 to match?
-
Thanks fellas. Had to look up what an O/7 was, would be nice one day. As for rigging, still haven't made my mind up to try it yet.

Dooo Eeet. You know you want to.
Besides it will impress us even more! As if that's possible.

Well, some more work on the "bloody paralyser of an aeroplane". The kit only came with the roundels so the other markings were obtained from the spares box. I managed to find my E-Z line so an attempt at rigging will be made tomorrow.

Adding the markings has really brought this baby to life!
I'm looking forward to seeing the rigging!
Brian da Basher
-
Haven't given up rigging the O/400, just need some new glue and material. So today finished the 3d printed CAC Boomerang.

Oh, that's a purty little thing.
-
They all look beauties!
I look forward to rigging the HP 0/400 !!!
I just completed a trio of Hanriots in the same scale, but gave up the idea of rigging!!!!
Antonio

I've just seen them. I have Valom Sopwith Camels, DR I and Eindeckers in the stash, Haha they probably won't get rigging either.

-
Wow that tiny Boomerang is very well done!
You've captured the essence of that aircraft perfectly and in such a small scale that's quite a feat!

Damn!! That's another gorgeous piece of work.
-
You've got a real talent for 1/144 which isn't an easy scale to work in, especially for single-engine aircraft!
Once again you've finished up quite a little gem. That racing scheme looks great!
Brian da Basher
-
That was painful, but the 1/144 O/400 is rigged (as much as I'm doing anyhow) and as far as I'm concerned finished. And a size comparison shot with my Lancaster

That thing is HUGE considering it's a WW1 bomber! :o Also, good job with the rigging!
-
Beautiful job of rigging; I doubt I could do near as well in 1/72 or even 1/48.

Also picked up a placing for my O/400 in the local model show

I've got a real soft-spot for small scale aircraft and few build them as well as you!
I especially like that little red Dr.1!
Great stuff!
Brian da Basher
-
Whoa so tiny !
Yet looks so good. Do you have good eyes or a very good magnifier ?
I find 1/72 scale serials are my limit these days and that's with x1.5 magnifiers on my glasses !
The rigging on the O/400 is also impressive

I have a pair of glasses from my health insurance for the small stuff

Congrats on the prize for the 0/400 really deserving of it! 8)
I'm still only testing out such; in 72-scale. :-[

Holy cow given how small a Sopwith Camel is in 1/72, to build it in 1/144 you must've used the electron micro-visor!
You even did the rigging which warmed the cockles of my black biplane heart. :-*
One of your most amazing modeling feats yet, Cam! Three cheers!
Hip! Hip! Huzzah!!!

Ye Gods, that's small! :icon_surprised:
Excellent work!
-
Yesterday's time at the bench didn't got plan, instead of what I panned to work on I worked on a couple of 1/144 aircraft. Finished this one today.
F-toys Japanese Iroquois repainted as a RAAF version. Some markings missing as I have nothing suitable in the spares folder.

Wow 1/144 you say? I'd have sworn at least 1/72!
Great use of the ol' eagle eye, Cam!
Another gem!

Fine 1/144 details and rigging to boot. Prop cowling wheels wings fuselage decals photograph like 1/72. Steady eye-hand work to build like this.
-
That's quite incredible and with rigging! Simply amazing!
Another wonderful gem for your collection, Cam!
Just bowled over by your skill in 1/144,

Thar'a wonder in 1/144 and I like your take on that famous Soviet camo, Cam!

thanks Brian
-
Yup, another marvel in mini-minature! Nice work
-
Another beautiful little model. I doubt I could do that well in 1/72.
-
I was ready to scrap this 2 weeks ago, my blunder nothing to do with the kit. Was also originally going to be QANTASlink but I wrecked those decals so went with the ones from the kit. I will have to try a QANTAS one again another day

HELLO? HAVE YOU SEEN MY GREEN TAIL? ;D
Good work, there, Camthalion!
-
That's one hot Dash 8 and that colorful livery is one I haven't seen before.
Another magnificent model, Cam! Most well done!

Thanks fellas. Still disappointed it isn't QANTASLink. Really going to have to get another.

The QantasLink scheme is very dramatic but this airBaltic bird looks a treat

Thanks.
It's more that the Q400's are the ones QANTAS use locally.

I especially like that you built two adversaries like that and your talent in small scales is to be envied indeed!

Pictures can pass as 1/72. Yes they are" sweet little gems."

Both look fantasic! I know Sweet makes an A6M, but who made the F2A?

yep the Zero is the Sweet version. the Buffalo is from Mark 1
-
Amazing amount of surface detail for this scale. Very nice pair
-
Okay, fess up; you leave the canopies on the floor at night and little tiny elves paint the framing for you.
My eyes go buggy doing that in larger scales.

I still could do better, but can't do anything on them without my reading glasses
