Big character change for the 109.  You have grasped the anachronistic concept.  Bet will come together well as RW look but a head scratcher.

Brian - Looks good. I would remove the old engine exhausts on the side, and maybe cut the nose length a bit.

The Japanese did this with the Ki-100 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_Ki-100) which was a radial engine version of the Ki-61 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_Ki-61) which used a DB 601 engine (just like the Me-109)
