This is more then just a retro paint scheme too. There are quite a few airframe and even cockpit modifications to back date the Rafale to. '50s era jet.

There is actually a full build article in the magazine...which may still be available in some newsagents or from the Publishers themselves...
I even did a retro Rafale (althought mine was more a 1960's one)
The one in the Magazine also has shock cones in the inlets as well as a rocket booster back under the belly.

This may just one of the best Whifs EVER! :-* There was a fairly comprehensive in-progress article on some French board, but I think the thread is no longer available. Pity, really, as it showcased just how much thought Phillippe put into back-dating the Rafale.
